To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Harry G. Else, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Erie, in the county of Erie and State of 5 Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding HammockFrames; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others ic skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, formingpart of this specification.

_ My in vention consists in the improvements in folding hammock frames hereinafter set forth and explained and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which;

Figure 1 is a view of my improved folding 20 hammock frame in elevation. Fig. 2 is a view of same in elevation folded together. Figs. 3, 4, and 5 are detail views of portions of same. Fig. 6 is a top or plan view of my improved tripod support.

The object of my invention is to construct a light foldinghammoek frame, which can be folded together, so as to be conveniently portable.

In the construction of my improved folding 30 hammock frame shown in the drawings, A is a horizontal bar provided with a joint a, at or near the center thereof, preferably provided with a hinge B by means whereof it can be folded together, and with a stay bolt & for 35 holding it in position when straightened out.

To each end of the horizontal bar A, I secure a tripod support C, preferably made of a single casting, having upwardly and inwardly projecting flanges c between which the ends 40 D and D' of the bar A pass, and are pivoted thereto by means of bolts d which pass through the inner ends of the flanges c and also through the bar A, so that the hinge thus formed operates vertically and allows the tri45 pod supports C to be folded under the ends of the bar A. The tripod supports C are each provided with three sets of radially projecting flanges E, Ε, E, equidistant from each other, between which the upper ends of the legs F F F are pivoted by means of bolts e 50 passing through the flanges E and upper ends of the legs F so that the legs F F F can be readily foldedtogether when desired.

Vertically through the horizontal bar A near the ends thereof and back of the pivot 55 bolts d I secure hooks G G from which a hammock H can be suspended, as illustrated in Fig. 1, the pull of the hammock H, on the hooks G, operating to make the hinged joints between the ends of the bar A, and the tri- 60 pod supports C very rigid when w'eight is applied thereto. A small chain h is also preferably secured to the central part of the bar A adapted to pass around the ends of the tripod legs E when folded up under the bar A as 65 illustrated in Fig. 2.

It will be observed that when desired the frame can be folded up with the bar A at full length as illustrated by full lines, or with the bar A folded together as illustrated by the 70 dotted lines in Fig. 2.
