Michigan, have invented a new and Improved i Buckle or Clasp for Harness-Tugs; and I do j hereby declare that the following is a full, : clear, and exact description thereof, which ' will enable any person skilled in the art to mike and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying i of this specification, in which—

Similar letters of reference in the several figures indicate corresponding parts.

Thisinvention consistsin the employment or useof astirrup and a lever-frame provided with eccentrics and attached to the frame or body of the. buckle, all being arranged in such a manner that the leather or strap may be firmly secured, and also readily taken up or let out, as occasion may require, no holes being required to be made in the leather or strap, as is the case with the ordinary tongue buckle, and which greatly weakens tbe strap.

A represents the body or main portion of the buckle or clasp, which is a simple frame having the tug attached to one end of it. This frame is provided at each side with a lug or projection, a, to which a lever-frame, B, is attached by pivots b.

The frame B is provided at each end below the pivots b with eccentrics c c, one of which is shown clearly in Fig. 2. These eccentrics are represented as being at the outer sides of i

By this arrangement it will be seen t I the eccentrics, as well as the ends of the s j rup C, extend down by tbe sides of the j vice, and consequently admit of the buckh i clamp being quite thin and not at all ci bersome as previously-invented buckles I the same class.
