  1. 1
A method of replenishing gold in a gold electroplating bath comprising the steps of:establishing a free cyanide concentration in said plating solution having a pH of at least 3 by plating from a solution comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of KAu(CN)2, NaAu(CN)2, LiAu(CN)2, and NH4 Au(CN)2 ;andcirculating said plating solution through at least one vesselCHARACTERIZED IN THATsaid vessel contains AuCN.
  2. 2
A method as recited in claim 1 in which said plating bath has a free cyanide concentration of at least 0.01 gm/liter.
  3. 3
A method as recited in claim 2 in which said AuCN is pelleted.
  4. 4
A method as recited in claim 3 in which said circulating step uses at least two series connected vessels.
  5. 5
A method as recited in claim 3 in which said circulating step uses at least two parallel connected vessels.
  6. 6
A method as recited in claim 2 in which said plating solution has a temperature between 20 and 80 degrees C.
  7. 7
A method as recited in claim 6 in which circulating step has a replenishing efficiency approximately proportional to (Vf /Vb) (Cl /Cd)0.7, where Vf is the volume flow rate, Vb is the bath volume, Cl is the column length, and Cd is the column diameter.
