To all whom it may concern;

Be it known that I, William Alex. Hamilton, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have 5 invented an Improved Soap Dish or Cup, of which the following is a specification.

The object of my invention is to construct a soap-dish that will be applicable either to a wall or sink bracket, or to a bucket or tub, io as fully described hereinafter.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure ! is a perspective view of my improved soap-dish. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the wall socket or bracket which I prefer to use. Fig.

3 is a section of the soap-cup on the line 1 2, Fig. 4, adapted to the socket. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the soap-cup, showing its application to a bucket; and Fig. 5 is an inverted plan view showing one of the features of my 20 invention.

A is the soap-cup, having a base a of openwork to allow for the escape of water, and having sides δ & to retain the soap. The back d of the cup has a projection e at its 25 upper end, from which depends a tapered lug e', which is adapted to fit in a depression f of the socket F, Fig. 2, the latter having three forwardly-projecting steadying-lips— two at the top, as at g g, and one at the base, jo as at h. These three lips bear against the back of the soap-cup, and with the lug e' serve to hold the cup firmly in place in the socket.

On the underside of the soap-cup is secured 35 a forked plate B, having arms c c projecting from the under side of the soap-cup in such a position that when the cup is applied to a bucket or tub, as shown in Fig. 4, they will, in connection with the lug e', serve to hold 40 tlie cup firmly upon the rim of the bucket or tub. The plate B is shown in Fig. 3 as secured by a screw, and it may have a slot i, as shown in Fig. 5, to which is adapted a screw j, so that by loosening the screw the plate 45 may be moved toward and from the bucket, in order that it may fit buckets of different sizes. A spring k may be inserted in the slot or located at the back of the plate, as shown respectively by full and dotted lines in Fig. 5, so as to adapt the plate for applica- 50 tion to square-sided vessels, such as tanks or large tubs. The distance between the lug e' and the back of the socket may be varied as circumstances suggest.

It will thus be seen that the soap-cup, al- 55 though adapted for use with a sink or wall bracket or socket, can be removed therefrom and readily fastened to a bucket for use in scrubbing and other work.
