To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, James II. Dumont, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Kingston, in the county of Ulster and State of 5 New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game-Boards; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it io appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to certain new. and 15 useful improvements in game-boards, the. object of my invention being to provide a gameboard which can be folded or set up in a parlor or lawn, said board being adapted to be used in connection with an elastic or non20 elastic ball or bag; and my invention consists in the special construction and combination of the parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and specifically pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of agame-board constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same in position to be played upon. Fig. 2 is a sectional view showing the board folded for 30 storage.

My improved game-board consists of two sections A and B, which are hinged together so that one section will be maintained in a vertical position while the other section is in35 Mined therefrom. The vertical section is provided with legs b b, and above the legs and hinges with baskets c c, which are preferably composed of wire, and also with a bracket d. The section B is also provided near its upper 40 end with an outwardly-projecting screen or shield e, above which an opening is formed in the board.

The section A, which is hinged to the section B, is provided with a plain upper surface 45 having an opening a, and the upper surface thereof is divided into different sections, which may be suitably colored, if desired. To the free end of the board A is secured a strip for re-enforcing the same and protecting the lower 50 edge, while the opposite end is provided with a cross-batten, as shown in Fig. 2. Below this cross-batten are attached hooks /, which en gage with the eyes f for maintaining the parts in proper position.

The wire baskets c c are secured on each 55 side of the center of the board, as shown, and the bracket d is preferably made of rigid material and secured centrally to the board under the opening therein and at a distance below the shield e. The upper surface of this 60 bracket is provided with projecting pins d'.

Above the brackets of the vertical board B are placed arbitrary numbers, preferably the denomination shown; The openings in the vertical and horizontal boards are also pro- 65 vided with arbitrary numbers, as well as the divisions in the board A.

In connection with this game-board bags filled with suitable material, as sand or beans, are used, and it is the object of the players to 70 secure by throwing the bags at the board the highest number of points possible. The inclined screen e extends sufficiently forward to direct the bag beyond the bracket cZ, and also beyond the opening a in the inclined board. 75

In playing the game the parties participating stand a suitable distance from the board and throw the bags at the same. A bag thrown upon the first section of the inclined board may count ten; upon the second section, fif- 80 teen; upon the third section, twenty, and should the bag pass through the openings in the inclined and vertical boards it will count twenty-five and fifty, respectively. Other points may be made, as indicated by the fig- 85 ures, by landing the bag upon any of the brackets. Should the bag either land on the floor or miss the board entirely, a deduction is made of a suitable number of points.
