To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Arnold Pahlow, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsyl5 vania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Convertible Chair, Carriage, and Rocking-Chair, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.

io My invention relates to a convertible chair, carriage, and rocking-chair; and it consists of two hinged bodies adapted, when opened, to form a carriage-body, and when closed a chair, and provision is made for forming a rocking15 chairs as will be. hereinafter described and specifically claimed.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.

Referring to the drawings, A and A' designate two chairs-bodies, whicli are hinged together on the adjacent faces of their bases or bottom portions or open ends, as shown in Fig. 1, in such manner that they may be extended 30 and form horizontal continuations of each other and constitute the body of a carriage, as seen in Fig. 2, the sides and backs of the two bodies forming the sides and. ends* of the carriage-body, which latter may be fastened 35 to suitable running - gear by bolts or other means connected with the floor or other portion of the same.

When the body-section A' is inverted and the body A turned on said section A', as seen in Fig. 1, a chair is produced, the legs of which 40 are composed of the sides and back of the body A'.

In order to convert the chair into a rockingchair,the legs of the body A' are formed with spherical or other proper-shaped heads G, hav- 45 ing necks G', which enter sockets II in the rockers, the same being open at top to allow the insertion of said heads and necks. Blocks J are hinged to the rockers in such manner as to enter the sockets H and close the same, 50 preventing displacement of the heads G, whereby the legs and rockers are securely connected.
