To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that. I, David ,L Powers, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illi5 nois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Crib-Beds, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in crib-beds; and it consists in several new deio vices fully set forth, and described in the accompanying drawings and specification.

The drawings, Figure 1, Sheet 1, show a ride view of the crib in its normal condition. Fig. 2 shows an end view,with the reversible rocker 15 turned up, so as to only form a supportinggirt for the legs; and Fig. 3 shows a cross-section of one end on line X X of Fig. 1, with the rocker-girt, in position for a rocker. Fig. i 4, Sheet 2, shows an end elevation of Fig. 1, 20 with the panels folded down. Fig. 5 shows a modification of the crib in which the frame is not sufficiently raised to allow the panels to fold without first removing the bedding. 1. Fig. 7 shows Hie lock for connecting the end and side panels. Fig. 8 shows the plate into which the key locks. Fig. 9 shows a doublehinge with which to connect the side panels to tlie frame, so that the panels can be folded 30 down, out, or inside. Fig. 10 shows the lock upon the reversible rocker adapted to keep it in either position. Fig. 11 shows the locking-key, and Fig. 12 the locking-plate, of the rocker, all of which are indicated by corre35 sponding letters and figures, both in the drawings and specification.

My improved child’s crib is preferably constructed with a frame having sufficiently high sides, Fig. 1, A, upon which the folding panels 40 B are hinged to permit the panels to fold down, as shown in Fig. 4, upon the bedding, ' which in such case would not have to be re- i moved before folding the panels, while with a frame, as shown by Fig. .5, the bedding has 45 to be removed before folding the panel sides and ends. Near the bottoms of these frames I is stretched lengthwise and secured a woven wire or other suitable bed-bottom, C. ^rFlie legs M are adapted to be folded and 70 unfolded in the usual way, and may be secured when unfolded by hooks I, or in any other suitable manner. The legs are connected by a cross-girt, .1, at their upper ends and by a curved girt, K, at their lower ends, that ispiv- 75 otally secured between the legs, as indicated at //, and adapted to be turned on its axis upward, so that the legs support the crib, or may be turned down, in which position it sustains the weight and serves as a rocker. 80 The rocker-girts are of a length equal to the distance between the inner faces of the legs to which they are secured, and, as tlie ; legs are pivoted to the rails of the body in such manner as to fold up inside of such rails, 85 it is apparent that tlie rockers present no obstruction to the folding of the legs within the body of the crib. This feature is of importance in many ways—as, for example, in the packing and shipping of the cribs, in their 90 storage when not in use, and in the convenience of disposing of the crib during the day, for which purpose it is usually provided with casters secured to the under side of the frame to adapt it to be rolled under an ordinary bed, 95 and with which casters the rockers would interfere did they project beyond the bottom of the rail. Besides, when the rockers are thus pil oted all danger of breaking them by accidental collision is avoided, and the bed'is ren- ico dered more convenient in use as well as improved in appearance.
