Be it known that I, Charles A. Hunt, of the city of Urbana, county of Champaign and

-S tatoof- Illinois, have invented- a Clothes Drier with Peculiar Hinge Construction, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in’ which—

My clothes - horse may be either fixed to a Wallin a gliding bar, C, or stand upon a pedestal with cast-iron feef.

The essential parts of the machine, aside from the upright fastenings, consist of a heelhinge, D, which has its .attachments or bearings upon the pedestal, or on the slide-bar C, and is designed to support a box-hinge, E, which plies between its jaws and swings later* ally upon a rivet-axle. The hinge E, which attaches as above, is a box which opens out from the pedestal or slide-bar C, having projecting lips, between which wooden fingers A are fixed by rivets passing through their ends and through the lips,leaving the fingers A with free motion - laterally, so they can open and close. The fingers A are of wood and some four feet long, upon which the clothing is de signed to be hung for drying. The hinges are of cast-iron, and thus adapted to gi ve not only free motion to the fingers, but a lateral motion to all at the same time, so that when not in use it can be entirely closed up and lie flat against the wall of a room.
