To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, W. L. Fish, of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new' and Imf ^((proyed: ( Alt achment· : th/ Lamp.- Chimneys; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specifiIpcatipfiU^

1(//:(This’ invention consists in_:.'the.; arrangement of a receiver in combination with the chimney of a kerosene or other flame in such a manner that water or other liquid poured 20 into such receiver can be heated by the.action of the flame in an easy and convenient manner; it consists further in the arrangement of a window in the lower part of the (; mCtal chimney in such' a m an nor _; that the 25 flame can be observed from the outside and. /::/((that (sufficient: light: is allowed to pass out into the room to'render the device available for a nurse lamp.

The chimney A, is made of sheet brass or other suitable conductor of heat and it con((((/.sists::bf'twb' parts the bulb &lt;?, and the tube δ. (//_: which7.are connected Ao/thaf;/the ''tube; can easily be taken off without disturbing the bulb which is placed over the flame of a kerosene or other lamp or over a gas flame in the manner as shown in Fig. 1 of the ⁴⁰ drawing.

B, is the receiver which is constructed ot

[First printed 1912.] tinned sheet iron or other suitable material and which is firmly united with the tube δ, by soldering or in any other convenient and durable manner. This receiver is placed in 45 such relation to the tube δ, that the latter passes clear through its center and a cover c, which is provided with a central hole to pass Over the end of the tube, is placed on the receiver. By this arrangement water or other 50 liquid which may be poured into the receiver can be: heated in a very short time. The receiver is provided with a handle d, so that the same with the tube δ, can be conveniently taken off from the bulb a, when its 55 contents are. hot.

The bulb d, is provided with a window e, through which (the flame can be observed from: the outside and at the same time this window admits some light from the flame 60 into the room so that a lamp with my attachment can be conveniently used as a nurse lamp. This window is in one side of the bulb and it consists of a small aperture : covered with mica or other suitable material. 65 By turning the bulb’the light emanating from said window can be thrown in any desired direction.
