A cord 30 may start in opening 21 in row 19 and extend around through opening 22 in row 16, then back to opening 23 in row 19 and then back to opening 24 in row 17 and so forth back and forth between the openings in 5 the different rows picking first an opening in one row and then an opening in the next row which is staggered in relation thereto. The lacing arrangement is shown more or less diagrammatically in FIG. 2 where the cord designated as 38 is shown in an expanded relation to indicate 10 the back and forth arrangement of the stretches of cord to provide the extended length of cord between the two sections. The cord may be of any suitable material. A convenient material is braided nylon which may be fused to enlarge an end as at 31 so as to hold the cord from 15 being drawn through the eyelet. Both the start and finish ends may be enlarged in this manner.

In some cases it may be desirable to connect the sections together by a second cord which is designated as 35 and which is attached between the two center openings 20 36 and 37 in the two belt sections so that when the cord 30 is removed, the two belt sections will still be connected together by the shorter cord 35 and the belt may still be worn for supporting the trousers. In this case the shorter cord may be of elastic for varying its length.

Bands 40 which may be of a removable adhesive tape may be placed about the different stretches of cord as they extend back and forth between the eyelets so as to hold the stretches of cord in the desired assembled relation making a rather flat belt for engagement with the 30 trousers.

For use it is merely necessary to sever the enlargement 31 from the end of the cord and unlace the cord 30 from the belt and put the cord to a different use. The second cord may then take the load of the belt until the cord 35 30 is returned to the belt. In this way a convenient and useful storage for a cord of substantial length is afforded.
