To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, John A. Stewart, a citizen of the U nitecl States, residing at Whitesborough, in the county of Grayson and State 5 of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bedstead-Fastenings; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which io it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of this invention applied to the post and rail of a bedstead. Figs. 2, 3, and 4 are perspective views of the different parts.

This invention has relation to bedstead-fast20 ings; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of devices, as will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in. the claim appended.

Referring by letter to the accompanying 25 drawings, a designates a bed-post provided with one section of my improved fastening. This section, δ, is provided with a shouldered . flange, c, on its front face, and is secured to face of the post by screws d, as shown. From 30 the face of the shouldered flange c two or more studs, e, project laterally, spaces f being left between for the reception of laterally-projecting. studs <7, of which there may be one or more on the flange h of the section i, which is 35 secured to the rail k by screws I, as shown. I preferably use three projections or studs e and two studs g; but two studs e and one stud g may be used, if desired, without departing from the character of my invention. The. studs e and g are provided with central 4< vertical holes, m, which are aligned when the sections δ and i are engaged at right angles by their studs, and a coupling-pin, n, is passed down through the aligned holes m, and locks the sections firmly together. ,,

This fastening is easily put together aud may be quickly taken apart by withdrawing the coupling-pin. It is cheap and simple,and will not come apart accidentally, so that there is no danger of the bedstead falling where this 5c fastening is used. The flanged shoulder renders'the joint, perfectly tight, so there is no danger of lateral play, the parts fitting evenly and snugly.
