WINDOW-BLIND FASTENER.

Specification of Letters Patent No. 30,397, dated October 16, 1860.

To dll whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Alfred T. Finch, of Meriden, New Haven county, Connecticut, have invented a certain new and use5 ful Improvement in Window-Blind Fasteners; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being macle to the annexed drawing, making a part of this 10 specification.

This improvement is intended to produce a window blind fastener of greater strength, less liability to break, more easily applied, anil of less cost than the old kinds.

The fastener consists of four castings, so formed that when the pieces are properly -placed the catch is complete and may be attached to the blind by simply forming a hole through the stile of the blind large 20 enough to pass the long leg or outer hook through and screwing on the clamp plate from the inside. The fastener has two hooks, as usual, one for the inside and the other for the outside. These are cast with 25 their axis pins solid and are held in place by putting those pins into appropriate sockets cast in the halves of the clamp plates.

At (a) is the inner hook having its attached end terminating in a rounded or 30 cam form (a') so that moving it will operate to lift the outer hook, as usual. At (δ) is the outer hook cast in like manner with its axis pin solid, and having its attached end curved, as at (δ') to receive the action of the hook (a) in lifting it, 35

At (c) and (/) are the clamp and securing plates, (c) being the outer clamp covering the second or inner one (/), which lies within a rim formed about the outer plate.

At (e) and (/) are the recesses to receive 40 the axis pieces, a part of the recess being in each plate of the clamp, as shown.

The operation is as follows: A proper opening being made in stile G of the blind, the two hooks are placed between 45 the clamp plates as shown, being held in position until placed against the stile. The plate (c) is then screwed to it, covering the plate (/) which thus keeps all properly in place. A small finishing plate (i) is 50 screwed over the hole in the stile on the opposite side, allowing the hook to project' through and acting as a guide to it also.
