The present invention relates to a bracket for the suspension of shelves, glass cabinets and the like to be attached in round or square tubes, or support elements with other profile, and the invention is substantially characterized in that the bracket is provided with means for fixing the shelf vertically and horizontally in the longitudinal direction of the shelf, and that the bracket also is provided with attaching means which engages equidistant holes in the tube wall, and which fixes the bracket horizontally and vertically in the tube.

The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows a bracket according to the invention applied on a tube and cooperating with two shelves. Figure 2 shows the bracket in perspective view, and Figure 3 shows, also in perspective, another embodiment.

The bracket according to the invention consists, in the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, of an intermediate piece 1 from which fixing means 2 and 3 extend which are adapted to fix the shelf vertically and horizontally in the longitudinal direction of the shelf. The fixing means consists of two pairs of tongues opposing each other, one pair of tongues consisting of a tongue 4 extending from the intermediate piece 1, which tongue engages a horizontally extended groove 6 made in the shelf 5, the said tongue 4 fixing the shelf 5 vertically, and of another tongue 7, also extending from the intermediate piece 1, which tongue is so bent that it engages a vertically extending groove 8 in the shelf 5, whereby the bent tongue 7 fixes the shelf horizontally in the longitudinal direction of the shelf.

From the intermediate piece ! there also extends attaching means for fixing the bracket to a tube 9, which attaching means consists of two tongues 10 and 11. The upper tongue is doubly bent and is adapted to be inserted in a hole 12 in the tube 9, and the lower tongue 11 is angularly bent and is adapted to be inserted in another hole 13 made below the hole 12. Equidistant holes are made in the tube, whereby the bracket can be fixed at desired level.

The lower tongue 11 has a width which corresponds to the diameter of the hole 13, and near the intermediate piece 1 the tongue 11 has a narrower portion 14 the length of which corresponds to the thickness of the wall of the tube 9. When the said tongue 11 is inserted in the hole 13, the tongue thus fits the hole, and when the bracket is loosened, it sinks somewhat downwards, whereby the stops 15 and 16 formed at the transition of the narrower portion 14 to the wider portion will rest against the inside of the tube 9, whereby the bracket is locked and prevented from falling out.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 3 the fixing means 2 and 3 are not integral with the intermediate piece 1 but are turnably attached to tongues 17 and 18, formed on the intermediate piece, by means of a rivet 19. Thereby a shelf to be used as a shelf for newspapers can be placed obliquely in the desired position.
