DRESSING TABLE SUPPORTING MEANS FOR INFANT’S BATH STAND

This invention relates to dressing table supporting means for a folding infant’s bath stand, and has for its purpose to afford a simple and economical structure for pivotally mounting a dressing table on the leg frame of a bath stand in a manner to simplify the application of a swinging dressing table to a leg frame with rounded corners.

A further purpose of the invention is to afford an efficient and practical structure that can readily be manufactured and installed and which serves to provide in a single assembly a pivotal mounting and means for limiting upward movement of toe dressing table, as well as means tor retaining a tub drain tube when not in use against a leg of toe leg frame.

To these and other ends, the invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts that will appear clearly from the following description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, the novel features being pointed out in the claims following the specification.

Referring more particularly to the drawings in which like reference numerals refer to toe same parts throughout the several views, 1 and 2 designate the front and rear leg frames which are pivotally connected at 3, the lee portions of which are formed of generally U-shaped or channel cross-section and include curved corner portions 7 ^at‘^be “^pP^er_£^e“^ds of the legs, while 5 designates a collapsible tub of plastic or other suitable fabric suspended and supported between the top rails of the leg frames.

The parts thus far described are generally in accordance with prior arrangements in which a dressing table can swing from a horizontal operative position over the tub to a vertical position at the rear of the tub, or to a lowered position forwardly of the front leg frame when the stand is col apsed m which position the dressing table functions to hold the tub stand in collapsed relation, and this invention has to do with a novel and improved means for pivotally supporting the dressing table on the bath stand and an assembly that functions to limit upward movement of the dressing table and also to retain the dram tube from the tub.

XXkX^{1 theSe ob}i^ectives» the dressing table is provided with hinge plates 8 which are rigidly attached to ffie ends of the dressing table by rivets 9 and occupy positions spaced from the curved corners 4 of the rear leg i^rai”®’ t^e-^{e Fig}'. ³‘ ^In .^{order t0} P^rovide a pivotal support tor the hinge plates 8 in planes removed from the curved corners of the leg frame to which the dressing table is pivoted, there are provided wire posts 11 of circular crosssection, each of said wire posts 11 having an inwardly bent portion 12 at its lower end that enters an opening m the adjacent leg to interlock therewith and an outwardly bent portion or trunnion 13 at its upper end which has pivotal connection with the hinge plate 8 and • is retained m engagement with the hinge plate 8 by a friction cap 14 that has a drive fit on the end 13 of the post.

The post 11 is provided with an enlarged flattened portion 15 intermediate its ends and is attached securely to the leg by a bolt 16 which extends through the flattened portion of the post 11 and is held in place by a nut 17 engaging its inner end. In this manner, the hinge plates 8 can swing with the dressing table in vertical planes spaced from the curved comers 4 of the rear leg frame while each supporting post 11 is held securely in position on its leg by a single fastening means.

In order to limit upward swinging movement of the dressing table when elevated to a position at the rear of ’J ΑΧ ^pro,^{vided st}op lugs each comprising a ^{WhlCh 1S secured} between the head of bolt 16 and the underlying flattened portion 15 of post 11 and is Provided with a laterally bent stop portion 19 that lies in the path of the edge 21 of the hinge plate 8 and limits downward swinging movement of the hinge plate and corresponding upward movement of the dressing
