Claim.

The present invention relates to a diabolo and it consists m the combinations, constructions ana arrangements of parts herein described and LaIofIIIicQ,

Generally there is provided a balancing type Thp^WtnT^{Cb may} be used hy ^one or more persons. The toy is a double-conical frustum with the lesser diameter at the center. The toy is molded oi plastic or may be formed of other suitable 7^atrX ^and ’^{S C}°^{red from the center} outwardly for lightness and economy, the outer ends heing· cailoped. ^acc°^{rdingIy an} object of the invention to pioyide a device of the character set forth which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and yet effective and efficient in use ^obj?^ct °^{f the inventi}on is the provision in a device of the character set forth, of novel means lor balancing and rotating the same.

Still another object of the invention is the nrovision, in a device of the character set forth of novel means for producing sounds therein.

Referring more particularly to the drawing i there is shown therein, in Figures 1 to 3, inclusive, a toy of the character above set forth having a body in the form of a double-conical frusium with the lesser diameter at the center, as indicated at ί B, the conical portions of the bodv being indicated at H.

The outer ends of each of the cones 11 are scalloped, as indicated at 12 and immediately inwardly of the outer edges in each case there is affixed by cementing or the like a disc shaped end plate 13 having a plurality of radially extending spaced slots i 4 formed therein.

The center portion of the plate 13 is provided with an integrally formed hub 15 in which is mounted a radial ball bearing 16 which bears against the hub 17 of a fan disc 18 which is mounted upon the hub 17 by means of a pin 19. The fan disc 18 is provided with a plurality of propeller blades 20 and each of the hollow cones 11 is provided with a series of spaced circumferentially extending openings 21.

In the operation of this form of the invention it will be apparent that there is provided a pair of sticks 22 the outer ends of which are interconnected by means of a cord 23 which is preferably of that type known as a “chalk line string.” The device may be placed upon the string by placing the portion 10 thereon and thereafter manipulating the sticks 22 so as to balance the toy upon the string 23 and at the same time to cause it to rotate. In the operation of this «orm of the ’ the device will be balanced and rotated in the manner above described with regard to the devic Town in Figure 2 and it will be apparent that the propeller blades 32 will cause a passage of air through the device thereby actuating the whistle 30 to produce a weird and amusing sound.

Wlfile but two forms of the invenion have been shown and described herein, it will be read ily apparent to those skilled in the art that many minor modifications may be made without de parting from the spirit of the invention or th scope of the appended claim.
