  1. 1
Having thus described my invention and some of the modifications of it, what I claim is:1. The method of producing half tone screen negatives with closed or substantially closed in dotless high-light areas from copy which comprises providing copy formed over a substratum of fluorescent material adapted to emit an actinic light, and with said substratum left uncovered in the high-lights, photographing the copy through a halftone screen onto a plate in the regular manner and using the light emitted by the bare fluorescent areas to close in the highlight dot structure.
  2. 2
The method of producing half tone screen negatives with closed or substantially closed in dotless high-light areas from copy which comprises providing copy formed over a substratum 5 of fluorescent material adapted to emit an actinic light, and with said substratum left uncovered in the high-lights, photographing the copy through a halftone screen onto a plate in the regular manner with normal light, shutting off the normal 10 light, and using the light emitted by the bare fluorescent areas to close in the high-light dot structure.
  3. 3
The method of producing half tone screen negatives with closed or substantially closed in 15 dotless high-light areas from copy which comprises providing copy formed over a substratum of fluorescent material adapted to emit an actinic light, and with said substratum left uncovered in the high-lights, photographing the copy through 2o a halftone screen onto a plate in the regular manner with normal light, shutting off the normal light, irradiating the copy with a substantially invisible ray and using the light emitted by the bare fluorescent areas to close in the high-light 25 dot structure.
  4. 7
The method of producing half tone screen negatives as set out irrtelaim 3 wherein the irradiating ray is an ultra violet band extending from about 3500 to 4500 Ang. and a color filter is used 40 between the copy and the plate to absorb any ultra violet reflections from the copy.
  5. 9
Copy for drop-out high-light half tone process characterized in having a substratum of fluorescent material more or less uncovered in the lighter areas of the copy. 50
  6. 10
Copy for drop-out high-light half tone process characterized in having its high-light areas covered with a fluorescent material.
  7. 11
Copy for drop-out high-light half tone process characterized in having its high-light areas 55 covered with a photo-phosphorescent material.
  8. 12
Artist’s wash drawing copy for drop-out high-light half tone process characterized in having a substratum of fluorescent material more or less uncovered in the lighter areas of the copy 60 and the paint of the wash drawing containing an ultra violet ray absorbent. BURTT L. BERRY.
