This invention relates to wagons or other conveyers of the type particularly intended for use in factories for conveying oil soaked oil chips, or the like, from one place to another, as, for instance from the machine where produced to a dumping ^An object of the invention is the Provision of a conveyer of this character into which oil soaked chips may be deposited “d winch is 10 adapted to separate, to a considerable e^ent, the oil from the chips and to permit separate dump 1Π Another object of the invention is the provision iii a device of this character of a door adapted to IB be pivotally swung outwardly and dow™d2 from closed position to be used as an incline runway over which a wheelbarrow, or the like, containing chips collected from different machines, may be wheeled into the device for dump20 ing therein, and also ^apted, when re eased for such purpose, to swing outward at its lower e portion to permit dumping of the chip contents when the front end of the device is raised.
Xther objects and advantages of. the mven25 tion will be apparent from the following detailed ' description thereof, and from the accompanying drawing, in which— fVne

Application November 5, 1937, Serial No. 172,966 (Cl. 296—51) cooperating therewith to form a bottom chamber 12 for receiving oil draining from chips placed in the box over said floor. ...
The box is preferably of metal construction having in the present instance, a frame of angle 5 iron with sheet metal mounted thereon to close the sides, front end, and bottom. The false b tom II is mounted on cross frame members 13 and comprises, in the present instance a stationary part 14 at the rear end of. the floor and 10 a pair of doors 15 extending from said part 14 to the front end of the box and hinged at their outer side edges at 16 to adapt them to be opened upwardly and outwardly to facilitate access to the chamber 12. Each door has a handle Ko 1 facilitate raising and fits sufficiently free within the box and over the supports 13 to permit di amage of oil therearound into the chamber 12 from the upper chip compartment of the box, or it may be perforated or made of foraminous form : for such purpose. . .
The gate 8 preferably comprises sheet metal mounted on angle iron strips and is provided ai its bottom edge with a cross bar 20 ^ming oppo site end trunnions for seating in notches 21 in. the top edges of bracket plates 22 seemed to and projecting rearwardly from each side of the box.at its lower rear end portion. The gate is Provffied near its top edge with a cross bar 23 forming end trunnions at the side edges of the gate> which are adapted, when the gate is m upright pos tion, to rest in the top notches of lauch members 24 pivotally attached to and projecting rearwardly from the respective sides of the box near its ^°The^atch members 24 are pivoted at their iorward ends to the respective sides of the box and project rearwardly therefrom through guide slots 25 in the rear frame uprights 26 (Fig. 8) and aie notched at the rear of said uprights in their ton edges as at 27, to receive the ends of the cross bar 23. Each latch member 24 is connected by a link 30 to a rocker-arm 31 rising from the respective end of a cross shaft 32 mounted ta tie S end portion of the box I below the floor 11 and one or both of the arms 31 may be extended to form a control lever handle 33, which extends upward to convenient operating position. A spring pressed plunger 34 is attached to each side of the box I and acts against the respective rocker-arm 31 to normally prevent a movement of the rocker-arms which will lowei the latch members from notched engagement ‘ with the cross bar 23 when the cross bar 20 is seated in the notches 21. The rocker-arms 31

2,136,010 may, however, by the application of, forward pressure on either lever 33, be moved forward a distance against the tension of the spring pressed plungers 34 to effect a lowering of the frnC^ “embers ™ and their consequent release
Jbe+cross.bar 23 θί the gate. This permits the gate to swing forward and downward about the cross bar 20 as an axis to rearwardly declining· runway position. When the lever 33 is moved the normal Position shown in ng. 2, the latch arms 24 are raised, thus raising the gate 8 therewith and releasing the cross bar 20 from engagement with the notches 21, thereby permitting the lower end portion of the gate to swing rearward about the cross bar 23 as a fulcrum.
In dumping the chip contents from the conveyer box !, the forward end of the conveyer is eBhipdann-anB s,uit®ble manner, as by a power cable 40 m hooked engagement therewith, and the chips are discharged by gravity from the rear end of the box, the gate 8 having first been raised by manipulation of the lever 33 to permit its lower end to swing free from the box This dumping action is facilitated by backing the conveyer against a stop member 41, or other member about which the conveyer may fulcrum in its raising movement, as shown in Fig. 5. The stop member 41 may comprise a length of 30 pipe- mounted on the floor at the edge of a pit ™hlch tbe chips are to be dumped, as shown n Fig. 5. To facilitate fulcruming engagement of the conveyer with the stop 41, the rearwardly extended end of each bracket- 21 is preferably 35. shaped at ns under side, as at 42, to engage and pivotally turn on the stop member.
The bottom of the conveyer box 1 preferably has a slight drop from its rear end forwardly so that oil on the floor li and bottom 10 will 40 have a tendency to flow to the forward end there0 ' A drain cock 45 is provided at the rear end of the chamber 12 at one side thereof, and this is adapted to be releasably connected to a drainage nose 46, preferably at the point where the 45 conveyer is to be dumped of its chip contents inasmuch as the raising of the forward end of the conveyer for the purpose of dumping the causes the oil to drain from the rear 1 ® chamber l2· The stationary part 14 50 of the floor provides a pocket in the rear end whenefbhtmbe?? 1? mt0 which the oiI may fl0W when the box is tipped for draining.
In the use of my conveyer, it may be moved about a plant to convenient places for receiv55 lng, chips which may be wheeled therein over the inclined runway formed by the lower gate 8 and hen dumped. When the conveyer has been filled, it may be wheeled to a dumping point where it is backed up against the stop 41 and its forward end then raised to cause the conveyer o fulcrum about such stop and to dump the chip contents into the associated pit, the gate 8 having been raised and released from the notches for such purpose, and the drainage hose 46 may be connected to the drain cock 45 to permit oi m the chamber 12 to be transferred to a desired storage receptacle.
It will be understood that my invention is not Specjflc construction, arrangement o m of the parts, as it is capable of numerous modifications and changes without departing from, the spirit of the claims.
