Claims. (CL 72—101)

This invention relates to channel guides designed for use in connection with Venetian blinds, the primary object of the invention being to provide means to hold the slats of the blind 5 against movement within the frame in which the blind is mounted.

An important object of the invention is to provide a channel guide of this character which may be embedded in the plaster of which the wall is 10 constructed, with the result that the guide is entirely concealed in the plaster, the guide being so constructed that when the plaster shrinks away from the guide, during the setting of the plaster the usual unsightly opening or cracks formed 15 along the guide incident to such shrinkage are concealed by the curved flanges of the guide.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and ar20 rangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, 25 without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Figure 1 is a sectional view through a window frame and channel guide constructed in accord30 ance with the invention, showing the plaster of the wall, completely concealing the channel guide.

Figure 2 is a perspective view of a channel guide, constructed in accordance with the inven35 ^tl0Referring to the drawing in detail, the body portion of the guide is indicated generally by the reference character 5, and as shown, is of substantially channel formation, the edges of the body portion being extended inwardly towards 40 each other, providing flanges 6, the edges of the flanges being curved outwardly and away from each other as at 7.

This construction provides curved lips 8 that have their edges bevelled with the result that 45 when the guide is positioned, and plastering material is positioned around the guide, the outer surface of the wall will be flush with the edges of the lips 8, and portions of the plaster material will All the space between the lips 8 and outer 50 surfaces of the flanges 6, lacking the channel bar against movement.

The body portion is provided with openings, disposed in spaced relation, with each other, which openings accommodate the securing 55 screws 9, which screws are embedded in the se curingstrip 10, which may be a part of the window frame with which the channel bar or guide is used, or may be in the form of a strip secured to the frame of the window.

The reference character ί ί designates a slat 0 of a Venetian blind, and the reference 12, designates a shank extending into the channel guide, the shank 12 being provided with a head 13 to prevent the shank 12 from becoming displaced from the opening within the channel guide. 10

From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction of the curved lips, pockets are provided longitudinally of the channel guide, for the reception of the plaster which is positioned within the pockets, during the formation of the 15 wall or window frame in which the channel guides ; ·&amp; used. It will therefore be seen that shrinkage of the plaster where the plaster contacts with the metal guide, is less noticeable than other types of guides wherein-there are no pockets pro- ₂₀vided for the reception of the plaster material.
