PISTOL HOLSTER Clyde W. Fink, Kansas City, Mo. Application October 4, 1935, Serial No. 43,568 5 Claims. (Cl. 224—2)

My invention relates in general to pistol holsters and more particularly to means whereby said holster may be readily attached to or removed from a belt without necessitating removal - of the latter from about the person.

In carrying out the invention I provide simple and inexpensive means whereby the holster may. be attached to the belt in such manner that there shall be ho liability of the holster be>0 coming accidentally detached from said belt, although the holster “may be manually removed when desired.

In order that the invention may be fully understood, reference will now be had to the ac15 companying drawing, in which:

Fig. 1 shows a pistol holster embodying my invention and attached to a belt adapted to be worn around the body of a person in the usual manner.

Fig. 2 shows the holster removed from the belt.

Referring in detail and by reference characters to the drawing, which illustrates a preferred ²⁵ embodiment of my invention, A designates the holster which may be of any ordinary or preferred type including a body B conforming in shape to the usual revolver or pistol (not shown) and formed preferably of a section of leather or other suitable material doubled upon itself, as at 2, to provide front and back walls 4 and 6, respectively, which in turn are secured together along their edge by suitable means such as „„ stitching 8.

⁰ Referring now more particularly to the means whereby the holster A may be attached to or removed from the belt C without necessitating removal of the latter from around the waist of the wearer, 10 designates a tongue made of ^W leather or other suitable material and permanently secured at its lower end to the back wall 6 of the holster by suitable means such as stitches 12. The upper free end of the tongue 10 is pro45 vided at each end with a laterally projecting shoulder 14 and is reinforced by a transverse shoulder 16 secured by suitable means such as stitches 18 to the faces of the tongue 10 and the shoulders 14.

₅₀ 20 designates a retaining member consisting of leather or other flexible material comprising end portions 22, 22α, and a relatively wide central portion 24 which is permanently secured to the upper portion of the rear walls 6 of the hol55 ster by suitable means such as stitches 26 and staples 28, The end portion 22 is provided with a snap socket 30 adapted to receive a snap button 32 secured to the end portion 22α.

In practice the holster A may be attached to the belt C without necessitating removal of the ₅latter from the person by slipping the tongue i 0 upwardly between the person and the inner surface of the belt C, which operation presents the back wall 6 of the holster against the front surface of said belt. The end portions 22 and 22α ₁₀of the retaining member 20 are then brought forwardly beneath the respective shoulders 14 and folded over the free end of the tongue 10 where they are reliably secured by pressing the button 32 into the socket 30. When folding ₁₅the end portions 22 and 22α as stated the end portion 22α is brought beneath the shoulder 16 so that the weight of the holster A and the pistol adapted to be carried thereby will, through the intermediary of the shoulders 14 and 16, exert a downward pressure upon the end portions 22, 22α, and the snap fastener so that there will be no tendency to open the latter and thus permit the end portions 22, 22α to release the tongue 10. ₂₅

When the tongue 10 is held in place by the retaining member 20 as stated the central wide portion 24 of said retaining member provides a bearing surface for the adjacent upper rear portion of the tongue so that the latter can not move ₃θ towards the back wall 6 of the holster and thus permit the shoulder 16 to become disengaged from the upper surface of the end portion 22α, but, on the contrary will cooperate with the end portions 22, 22α, in reliably holding the upper end of ₃₅the tongue 10 from movement in any direction.

In order to remove the holster A from the belt C it is only necessary to withdraw the button 32 from the socket 30 and unfold the end portions 22, 22α so that the holster A may be slipped down- 40 wardly until the upper end of the tongue 10 passes below the lower edge of the belt C.

From the foregoing description it is apparent that I have provided a holster with fastening means having the advantages above pointed out, 45 and while I have shown one form of such fastening means I reserve all rights to such other forms and modifications thereof as properly fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
