    structure for support of multi-tiers of passengers in occupant supports in a vehicle with an implicitly high center of mass, comprising a plurality of foot-frames arranged to form a contiguous beam structure substantially above the seat support tracks on the floor of the aircraft and attached thereto, adapted to support inertial loads of occupant supports in the multitier configuration attached to the top of the contiguous beam structure, along the axis of the vehicle during rapid deceleration of the vehicle, while decreasing the alternating tensile and compressive loads on the seat tracks as compared to that of non-contiguous structures, thereby enabling such a multi-tier support for occupants.

    A plurality of support foot-frames as in any of the preceding claims, wherein said interface transfers horizontal forces and thereby increases the rigidity of the airframe in the region of deployment within the airframe.

    A support foot-frame as in any of the preceding claims further comprising an attached impact decoupler that absorbs shock in the direction of motion of the aircraft, under rapid deceleration conditions of the aircraft thereby reducing the peak forces on the occupant and the track, under rapid deceleration conditions.

    The structure as in any of the preceding claims, wherein the first tier of occupant supports comprise a support structure for each occupant support, each adapted to engage at least one of said foot-frames, and supported laterally by the support structures of adjoining occupant supports, thereby providing a braced lattice to withstand axial loadings on the aircraft during rapid deceleration; and wherein the second tier of occupant supports comprise, a plurality of occupant supports comprising a support structure for each occupant support, each adapted to engage at least one of:one or more of the support structures of the occupant supports in the first tier;and one or more foot-frames, between the locations of the first tier occupant supports, and supported laterally by the support structures of adjoining occupant supports, thereby providing a braced lattice to withstand axial loadings on the aircraft during rapid deceleration, and thereby creating a braced structure.

    A method in an aircraft with at least one access aisle and a plurality of occupant supports for passengers, adapted to provide substantially sitting and substantially lying accommodation and with an axis of orientation of the passenger, and providing a multi-tier occupant support solution utilizing substantially the floor mounted seat tracks, by:installing a plurality of foot-frames with latches to the seat tracks directly or indirectly, each comprising at least one shear plane in a substantially vertical plane above each of the mounting tracks, adjoining foot-frames adapted to transfer substantially vertical loads between each other generated at the time of rapid deceleration of the aircraft;installing on a first tier a plurality of occupant supports comprising a support structure for each occupant support, each adapted to engage at least one of said foot-frames, and supported laterally by the support structures of adjoining occupant supports, thereby providing a braced lattice to withstand axial loadings on the aircraft during rapid deceleration;installing on a second tier, a plurality of occupant supports comprising a support structure for each occupant support, each adapted to engage at least one of: one or more of the support structures of the occupant supports in the first tier;and one or more foot-frames, between the locations of the first tier occupant supports, and supported laterally by the support structures of adjoining occupant supports, thereby providing a braced lattice to withstand axial loadings on the aircraft during rapid deceleration;thereby creating a braced structure with a high center of mass above the aircraft floor, enabled to transfer a loading on the seat tracks that is averaged out as a result of the inter foot-frame transfer of vertical loadings.

    An occupant support in a vehicle, for support of a passenger, comprising a plurality of elements, said plurality of elements comprising a support structure, a seat bottom, a foot rest, a leg rest and a seat back, wherein said seat back is enabled to be oriented in a substantially flat bed position and a substantially upright position, and said passenger is supported by at least two of said plurality of elements in the direction of motion of the vehicle under impact loading conditions.

    An occupant support in a vehicle support wherein said footrest is rigidly attached to a first part of the leg rest.

    An occupant support in a vehicle as in any of the preceding claims wherein a second part of the leg rest is rigidly attached to the seat bottom at a fixed angle to the seat bottom and wherein said second part of the leg rest is adapted to facilitate the legs of the occupant to bypass the second part of the leg rest so that the feet of the occupant may rest on a foot rest placed below the second part of the leg rest.

    An occupant support in a vehicle further comprising a support frame with a first end oriented towards the front of the seat bottom and a second end oriented towards the rear of the seat bottom, and attached pivotally at its rear end to the seat back about a lateral axis relative to the seat back, and wherein the first end is one of:slidably attached to the support structure or pivotally attached to a first end of at least one support arm with two ends, wherein the second end of said at least one support arm is pivotally attached to said support structure, and said support frame enabled to one or both of: support the seat bottom at one or more orientations with regard to the support frame, with an actuation means attached between a predetermined distance from its support axis on the seat back and the support frame, thereby enabling a variable inclination for the seat bottom;and support a part of the leg rest pivotally at its upper end at substantially its first end of said frame and enable a variable inclination of the part of the leg rest with an actuation means attached between a point on the part of the leg rest and the support frame.
