0004<figref idref="DRAWINGS">FIG. 5</figref> of the drawings illustrates a conventional backpack comprising a body <b>1</b>′ including a plurality of straps <b>11</b>′ and a plurality of pouches <b>12</b>′, <b>13</b>′, and <b>14</b>′ for accommodating articles. However, the backpack has no support and is apt to fall when placed on the ground or the like.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

0005An objective of the present invention is to provide a backpack with a seat, allowing the user to sit on the seat while supporting the backpack in an upright state.

0006A backpack in accordance with the present invention includes a body and a supporting frame. The body includes a plurality of straps, a plurality of pouches, and a compartment. The compartment is communicated with outside via an opening in a bottom thereof. A seat is connected via a connecting member to a side delimiting the compartment.

0007The supporting frame includes a base frame and a back frame pivotally connected with the base frame. The back frame includes two distal ends each having two mutually facing L-shaped members and two mutually facing restraining sections. Each L-shaped member includes a pivotal hole. The back frame is inserted via the opening into the body and abuts against an inner wall delimiting the compartment, with the L-shaped members of the distal ends of the back frame protruding out of the body.

0008The base frame includes two distal ends that are respectively located between the L-shaped members of the distal ends of the back frame. Each distal end of the base frame includes a pivotal hole aligned with the pivotal holes of the L-shaped members. A pivot extends through the pivotal hole of each distal end of the base frame and the pivotal holes of each distal end of the back frame, thereby pivotally connecting the back frame and the base frame.

0009A distance from each pivotal hole of the base frame to a tip of an associated one of the distal ends of the base frame is smaller than a distance from an associated pivotal hole of the back frame to an associated one of the restraining section.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

0016Referring to <figref idref="DRAWINGS">FIG. 1</figref>, a backpack in accordance with the present invention comprises a body <b>1</b> and a supporting frame <b>2</b>. The body <b>1</b> includes a plurality of straps <b>11</b>, a plurality of loop fasteners <b>12</b><i>a</i>, a plurality of hook fasteners <b>12</b><i>b</i>, a plurality of pouches <b>13</b>, and a compartment <b>14</b>. The straps <b>11</b> are sewn to two sides of the body <b>1</b>, allowing the user to carry the backpack with his or her shoulders. The loop fasteners <b>12</b><i>a </i>and hook fasteners <b>12</b><i>b </i>are sewn to appropriate portions of the sides of the body <b>1</b>. The loop fasteners <b>12</b><i>a </i>and the hook fasteners <b>12</b><i>b </i>are releasably engageable with each other. The pouches <b>13</b> are provided for accommodating smaller articles, which is conventional.

0017The compartment <b>14</b> is sealed at most portions. However, the compartment <b>14</b> communicates with outside via an opening <b>141</b> in a bottom thereof. A seat <b>16</b> is connected via a connecting member <b>15</b> to a side delimiting the compartment <b>14</b>. The body <b>1</b>, the connecting member <b>15</b>, and the seat <b>16</b> are made of soft, bendable material, such as textile, leather, etc. Thus, the body <b>1</b>, the connecting member <b>15</b>, and the seat <b>16</b> are foldable.

0018As illustrated in <figref idref="DRAWINGS">FIGS. 1 through 3</figref>, the supporting frame <b>2</b> includes a back frame <b>21</b> and a base frame <b>22</b> pivotally connected to the back frame <b>21</b>. The back frame <b>21</b> is substantially U-shaped and formed by means of bending a tubular member. The back frame <b>21</b> includes two distal ends each including two mutually facing substantially L-shaped members <b>210</b> and two mutually facing restraining sections <b>211</b>. Each L-shaped member <b>210</b> includes a pivotal hole <b>2101</b> through which a pivot <b>23</b> extends. The base frame <b>22</b> is retrained when the base frame <b>22</b> abuts against the restraining sections <b>211</b>.

0019The back frame <b>21</b> is inserted via the opening <b>141</b> into the body <b>1</b> and abuts against an inner wall delimiting the compartment <b>14</b>, with the L-shaped members <b>210</b> on two distal ends of the back frame <b>21</b> protruding out of the body <b>1</b>. The base frame <b>22</b> is also substantially U-shaped and formed by means of bending a tubular member. The base frame <b>22</b> includes two distal ends <b>220</b> each having a pivotal hole <b>221</b> through which the pivot <b>23</b> extends.

0020As illustrated in <figref idref="DRAWINGS">FIG. 2</figref>, a distance “a” from each pivotal hole <b>221</b> to a tip of the associated distal end <b>220</b> is smaller than a distance “b” from the pivotal hole <b>2101</b> to the associated restraining section <b>211</b>. Thus, when each distal end <b>220</b> pivots between the L-shaped members <b>210</b>, the distal end <b>220</b> will not impinge the restraining sections <b>211</b>.

0021When the distal ends <b>220</b> of the base frame <b>22</b> are placed between the L-shaped members <b>210</b> of the respective distal ends of the back frame <b>21</b>, the pivotal holes <b>2101</b> of the L-shaped members <b>210</b> are aligned with the pivotal hole <b>221</b> of the base frame <b>22</b>. Next, the pin <b>23</b> is extended through the pivotal holes <b>2101</b> and <b>221</b>, thereby pivotally connecting the back frame <b>21</b> and the base frame <b>22</b>. Thus, the base frame <b>22</b> is pivotable about the pin <b>23</b>.

0022Still referring to <figref idref="DRAWINGS">FIGS. 1 through 3</figref>, when the back frame <b>21</b> is moved toward the base frame <b>22</b>, an upper face of the base frame <b>22</b> abuts against the restraining sections <b>211</b>, thereby preventing further movement of the back frame <b>21</b>. The back frame <b>21</b> is thus supported. When the base frame <b>22</b> is placed on the ground, the body <b>1</b> stands upright, allowing the user to arrange the articles in the pouches <b>13</b>. Further, the user may sit on the seat <b>16</b>, with his or her back lying on the body <b>1</b> (i.e., the back frame <b>21</b>), which is much more comfortable than sitting on the ground.

0023Referring to <figref idref="DRAWINGS">FIG. 4</figref>, when the base frame <b>22</b> is pivoted from an underside to a position in front of the body <b>1</b>, the base frame <b>22</b> is substantially parallel to the back frame <b>21</b>. The base frame <b>22</b> can be retained in place by the hook and loop fasteners <b>12</b><i>b </i>and <b>12</b><i>a</i>. The overall volume of the backpack becomes smaller for easy storage.
