  1. 1
A computer mouse for operation by a computer user, the mouse comprising:a) a base;b) a side wall coupled to said base, said side wall having a substantially circular configuration;c) switch means coupled to said side wall for receiving user inputs from at least one of the fingers of the computer user and generating switch signals;and, d) mouse tracking means coupled to said base for generating mouse movement signals.
  2. 6
A computer mouse for operation by a computer user, the mouse comprising:a) a base;b) a side wall coupled to said base, said side wall having a contact zone for receiving the tip of the thumb and a contact zone for receiving the tip of at least one finger, said side wall being circular throughout the contact zones;c) switch means coupled to said side wall and located in one of the contact zones for receiving user inputs from one of the fingers of the computer user and generating switch signals;and, d) mouse tracking means coupled to said base for generating mouse movement signals.
  3. 9
A computer mouse for operation by a computer user, the mouse comprising:a) a base;b) a side wall coupled to said base, to receive the distal phalanx of the thumb and the distal phalanx of at least one of the fingers, the side wall being sized and shaped so that the proximal phalanx of the thumb and the proximal phalanx of other fingers do not contact the side wall;c) mouse tracking means coupled to said base for generating mouse movement signals.
  4. 12
A computer mouse for operation by a computer user, said mouse having a side wall and a top panel, the mouse being shaped and sized so that during normal operation the tip of the user's thumb contacts the side wall, the user's index finger contacts the top panel, the tips of the user's middle and ring fingers contact the side wall opposite the thumb, and the user's little finger and the heel of the hand rest on a surface on which the mouse operates.
  5. 14
A computer mouse for operation by a computer user, said mouse comprising:a) a base;b) a side wall coupled to said base;c) a top panel attached to said side wall;d) first switch means coupled to said top panel for receiving user inputs from one of the fingers of the computer user and generating switch signals;e) second switch means located in said side wall for receiving user inputs from one of the fingers of the computer user and generating switch signals;and, f) mouse tracking means coupled to said side wall for generating mouse movement signals.
  6. 17
Broadest claimClaim Score 87, very broad(NHIP)A process for operating a computer mouse having a side wall comprising:a) gripping the side wall of the mouse with the tip of at least one finger and the tip of the thumb;b) resting the side of the little finger and the blade of the hand on a fixed surface;and, c) moving the mouse on the fixed surface by flexing the fingers and the thumb without moving the blade of the hand and the little finger against the fixed surface.
  7. 21
A computer mouse for operation by a computer user, said mouse comprising:a) a base;b) a wall coupled to said base;c) switch means coupled to said wall for receiving user inputs from the computer user and generating switch signals;d) mouse tracking means coupled to said base for generating mouse movement signals which cause movement of a cursor on the computer screen while the user moves the mouse on a fixed surface;and, e) clutch switch means coupled to said wall to enable the user to move the mouse on the fixed surface without moving the cursor on the computer display.
  8. 22
A computer mouse for operation by a computer user, said mouse comprising:a) a base;b) a wall coupled to said base;c) switch means coupled to said wall for receiving user inputs from the computer user and generating switch signals;d) mouse tracking means coupled to said base for generating mouse movement signals while the user moves the mouse on a fixed surface;and, e) light indicator means coupled to said wall to permit the computer to provide visual information to the user.
  9. 26
A computer and computer mouse system comprising:a) light indicator means coupled to the mouse for providing light which is visible to a computer user;b) software means in the computer for causing the light indicator means to indicate to the computer user predetermined modes of computer status and operation.
