IMPROVEMENT IN GLOVES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 199,738, dated January 29,1878; application filed . December 14,1877.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, S. Oscar Parker, of Littleton, in the county of Grafton and State of New Hampshire, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Gloves, of which the following is a specification:

Figure 1 is a palm view of a glove to which my improvement has been applied. Fig. 2 is a back view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail cross-section of one of the fingers.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

The object of this invention is to furnish gloves which shall be so constructed as to have no seams at the sides or front of the fingers to make the wearer uncomfortable, and to annoy him by twisting; which will allow the stock to be cut economically, and in such a way as to allow heavy stock to be put where the most wear comes and lighter stock where there is less wear; which will lessen the labor of making and silking, and will facilitate the laying off and finishing.

The invention consists in a glove-finger made in one piece, with its seam running up its back, as hereinafter fully described.

The body of the glove is made in two pieces, A B, the palm being made the wider, so that the division-seams may run along the sides of the back. C represents the fingers, each of which is made in one piece, with the seam running up the back. The base of the fingers is sewed to the body A B, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

D is the thumb, which is made and sewed in in the usual way.

The body A B and the fingers 0 may be made of the same kind of material or of different kinds, as may be desired.

The size of the parts A B of the body may be so arranged that the division-seams .of said parts may be in line with the seams of the first and fourth fingers, as shown in Fig. 2.

This construction economizes labor and material, and at the same time allows the heavier parts of the stock to be used where they are most required.
