Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals, 1 indicates a bag which may be formed of paper, fiber, cloth or other desired material. This bag is preferably turned over at 2 to pro- 65 vide a thickened portion at the top to which the respective handles 3 and 4 are secured by suitable staples 5. To carry bottles or similar articles in an ordinary bag of this type would be rather difficult , if it was desired to carry the bottles 70 standing upright. In order to secure this result, namely, the carrying of bottles in an upright position, a tubular member 6 is secured to the bag 1 in any desired manner, preferably by adhesive strips 7 and 8. 75

The tubular member 6 is shown as square in Figure 2, but it will be evident that it may be round or any other desired shape. This member may be made of any desired grade of paper, cardboard or corrugated paper. It may also be of any de- 80 sired height, preferably of a height extending upwardly beyond the thickened part of the bottle, though this is not absolutely essential. When this structure is used three bottles may be carried as shown in dotted lines in Figures 1 and 2, 85 or, if desired, one or two bottles. The various bottles will be maintained separate and also held normally in an upright position either by the bag or by the division or partition member 6.

In Figure 4 a slightly modified structure to that 90 shown in Figure 1 is illustrated. In this form of the invention the structure is identical to that shown in Figure 1 except that the member 6' is provided with a bottom 9 which may or may not be secured to the bottom of the bag. 95

Instead of having a complete tube or squared member 6 a member 10 might be used as shown in Figure 5, said member having upright sides 11 and 12 and a connecting bottom 13 which bottom is secured in place by the strip 14 of adhesive. 100

Under many circumstances it may be desired to carry more than three bottles in the bag, and when this is the case the structure shown in Figures 6 and 7 may be used. In this form of the invention the bag 1 as shown in Figure 1 may 105 be used, but the division member 15 is quite different, though it divides the bag into square compartments. Claims.

This invention relates to devices for carrying bottles and the like and particularly an improved bottle carrying bag or a bottle bag adapted to carry a number of bottles and hold them in de5 sired positions, the object being to provide an improved construction whereby bottles may be maintained separate and in a desired upright position during the carrying operation and also when the bag is set down.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a bottle bag or carrier for bottles which may be made from paper, cloth or other suitable material and provided with one or any desired number of partitions designed to separate and protect the respective bottles from each other.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a bottle-carrying bag presenting a container, the same being formed of any size and shape and provided with square or other shaped dividing 20 members held in place by paste, glue or in other ways.

An additional object is to provide a bottlecarrying bag with one or more division plates, the division plates being either permanently 25 mounted on the bag or removably mounted thereon, but when in use acting to protect and separate the various bottles being carried.

With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of the arrangement and 30 combination of parts herein described and claimed. While the invention is not restricted to the exact details of construction disclosed herewith, still for the purpose of illustration a practical embodiment thereof is had by the accom35 panying drawing in which like characters designate like parts, and in which—

1,983,418 division member having notches at 19 and 20 so that the rectangular division member 21 may be fitted therein, said rectangular member also being notched as shown in Figure 7 whereby the parts form a division unit dividing the interior of the bag into blocks, there being six blocks or chambers illustrated. As shown in Figure 8, the same general idea is present, but instead of having a rectangular member as shown in Figure 6, merely sheets or plates 22 and 23 are used.

In Figure 9 a further modified idea is presented, embodying the same general idea of dividing a bag into chambers. In this form of the invention a single member 24 divides the bag into two compartments, said member 24 having flanges 25 and 26 secured by adhesive or other means to the sides of the bag.

In Figure 10 the division member 24' is provided with extra long flanges 27 and 28, said flanges extending from the division member to the respective sides of the bag, whereby the division member is held in place by friction and without the use of adhesive or similar securing means.

If desired, the adhesive could be left off the flanges 17 and 18. When this is the case the division structure 15, as illustrated in Figure 7, may be bodily applied and bodily removed. In all forms of the invention some form of division or separating structure is presented which will hold one or more bottles vertically in the bag, and in addition will separate the bottles with a division member which will act as a cushion so that the bottles will not strike together.
