Claims.

_£^inventi°n relates to my invention set L™™ ^{my a}PP^lication for Letters Patent Serial No. 649,925, filed January 3, 1933, for Table top construction.

The objects of this invention are:

First, to produce a table top in which a flexible cover is stretched over an inserted top panel and held in place with the elimination of any ^S v,^{P between the} Panel and the surrounding frame 10 wherein dust or other dirt may collect.

Second, to provide such a table top construction in which the panel and frame are wedged together and held securely.

Third, to provide such a construction in which ^{15 parts are easily put} together to obtain the desired result.

Further objects and advantages pertaining to economies of construction and operation will appear from the description to follow. A pre20 ferred construction of my device is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Fig. 1 is a partial perspective view partly in section showing my table top construction assembled.

Fig. 2 is a partial perspective view partly in section showing the parts in disassembled relaLion.

Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of my construeLion.

Fig. 4 is a bottom plan view of the top panel showing the flexible cover partly in place.

The parts will be identified by their numerals of reference which are the same in all the views.

1 is a table top panel that may be of wood wood ply wood, sheet metal, or any other desired material. 2 is a frame, here shown as mitered at the corners. 3 is a flexible table top cover that may be of leatherette, fabric, or any suitable material. The frame 2 is of a size to receive the top panel 1 and has an inwardly projecting, downwardly facing beveled portion 4 and a portion 5 against which a retaining strip may be secured to retain the top panel in 45 position, as will be described ?^{P Panel 1 has a beveled ed}ee 6 adapted to engage or mate with the beveled Portion 4 of the frame so that the top of the of fhl f ^W1U ί ^substantially flush with the top ^{50 th}f.^{frame 2}· ^The flexible cover 3 is stretched over the top of the panel 1 and over the beveled edge 6 and around the edge of the panel where it is rolled or otherwise forced into the kerf 7 on the rear side of the panel. The nailing is a simple operation and is pre- m the^r bevel 4 ^en?^ati^el f^{1 securely wedged} against ^?the bevel 4 of the frame to make a tight joint m which no dust or dirt will collect. The wedge action tends to hold the table cover 3 in proper position and the snubbing of the table cover _8naround the edge of the panel 1 makes a very ⁸° desirable fastening arrangement which is much more secure than could be obtained by similar means without the snubbing.
