IMPROVEMENT IN GAME AND CARTRIDGE BELTS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 191.027, dated May 22, 1877; application filed

April 2, 1877.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, Andrew A. Case and Elwin W. Bedell, of Chetopah, in the county of Labette and State of Kansas, have invented a new and Improved Game and Cartridge Belt, of which the following is a specification :

Figure 1 is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is a transverse section on line x x in Fig. 1.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

Our invention consists of a belt hung from the shoulders by suitable straps and encircling the waist, and provided with hooks for carrying game, and with a flap having pockets for carrying cartridges.

Referring to the drawing, A is a belt, of leather or other suitable material, that is suspended from the shoulders by straps b. Hooks a a are attached to the belt A for carrying game, and a hook, c, is provided for carrying the dog-whip. A flap, A', is attached to the belt A by means of hooks and eyes, as shown in dotted lines. Pockets B are formed in the flap A', and are provided with covers that button over, as clearly shown in the drawing. Two of these pockets are placed near each end of the belt. Those near the right hand of the wearer are designed for containing cartridges for immediate use, and those near the left hand are for containing a reserve supply of cartridges.

The game, if a bird, is suspended by the neck by the hooks a, the neck being placed in the bend of the hook, with the head upon one side of the hook and the body upon the other. If the game is a rabbit or other small animal, it is suspended by placing the gambreljoints on the hooks.

The flap A' protects clothing from mud, blood, or dirt, with which the game may be covered.

By using our improved belt, coats having large pockets and the use of game bags or nets or. other devices for carrying game are avoided.
