Talcum powder can and sifter therefor

This invention relates to improvements in cans for talcum and similar powders, and more particularly to improvements in the sifter tops for such cans.

A particular object of the invention is the provision of a sifter top for a toilet powder can in which the powder will be extruded from the holes in the side instead of from the holes in the top of the sifter.

A further object, of the invention is the provision of a sifter top for a toilet powder can which will have an absolutely flat top _______ ____ when the sifter top is not in operation and I claim is:— which will automatically be kept closed to prevent leakage of powder therefrom.

The operation of the device is as follows:— When the thumb-piece on the member 12 is lifted against the tension of the spring, the sides 13 of the sifter top are raised bringing into , view the openings 14. The powder can then be removed from either side of the member 12. When the finger is released from the thumb-piece, the member 12 will naturally spring back into place.

By the arrangement of parte here described, it will be noted that the top of the can always has a smooth flat appearance and M this type of closure is especially proof against accidental displacement of the opening therefor.

It is apparent that changes may be made in the form of this construction without de- 88 parting from the spirit of my invention.
