Operation chart and indicator

My invention relates to an operation chart ana indicator for carrying out a process having different steps of progression during the operation.

β. While the invention is intended for general use it is especially well adapted for use in connection with a laundry clothes washer, commonly referred to in the trade as a “washing wheel.”

It is well known that from the time, clothes are placed in a washer until the clothes are removed they are subjected to different processes during the washing operation. During this operation the height of

1® the water in the washer is changed several times as well as the temperature of the water and for each step or process during the washing operation the washer is operated a prede; termined period of time. It is customary for an operator of a washer to have an alarm clock which is set at the beginning of each step during the washing operation and sounds an alarm at the end of the respective step which is for a predetermined period of time. The number of steps during a washing operation are varied depending on the kind of clothes being washed. Due to the large nuinber .of different steps in a wash_n ing operation, it is very easy for the operator to become confused as to the stage of the washing and particularly when he has anumber of washers to look after. Furthermore, the operator must remember whether the ar. tides being washed are of a light or dark color and if the articles being washed are personal clothes, such as hotel “guest” work, hotel “flat” work, “family” wash, overalls, or of any other classification used by the «θ trade.

The invention as illustrated is designed for use in connection with a laundry washer and includes an operation chart on which appears the diffeernt steps to be performed

together with “cut-out” indicators for certain of the steps during the operation for different classes, of work.

By the use of this invention an operator by oaking at the chart may tell at a glance the 55 different steps to follow in carrying but a giY^en washing operation and the indicator will denote the current step in the operation so that operators may be changed during a washing operation without confusion as to 60 the kind of clothes being washed Or as to how tar the operation has proceeded.

Mounted on the left hand end of the panel 5 is a clock ijiavmg an alarm that may be set to operate ai, the end of a very short period of time, so this alarm includes minute graduations 8 from-0 to 10 and a cooperating pointer 9 which may be set, at will, to determine the period of time at the end of which the alarm will be sounded and an “on” and “off” lever 85 10 for the alarm.

In the center of the panel 5 is a sectional washing chart made up of a main card 11 and a plurality of secondary cards 12. The main card 11 is removably mounted in a main oo holder 13 and the secondary cards 12 are removably and individually mounted in secondary holders 14. These holders 13 and 14 are secured to the panel 5, vertically spaced, the one below the other, with the main holder 95 13 at the top.

The following indicia appears on the main card 11, reading from the left to the right: “Operation”, “Height of water”, “Temp, of water”, and “Mins.: to run”. The abbrevia- 100

Printed on the secondary cards 12, reading from the top down, are the different steps or processes 5 to be followed in washing clothes. On the right hand end: portion of the panel 20 ,5 is an indicator comprising a horizontal row of holes 15 in said panel for each ^secondary holder 14. As. shown, there are four holes ,15 in each horizontal row and these holes are -arranged in vertical rows. Horizontally 25 aligned with the holder 11 is a holder 16 secured to the.panel 5 and having a. removable card 17 and which holder is placed directly overs the several·vertical-rows of holes15.

The vertical row of holes 15 in which the indicator plug 18 is 40 placed indicates the type or class of clothes faatog washed while the horizontal row indicates the current step in the washing operation. The indicator plug 18, as:positioned, indicates that the washing is for a hotel and .the washing is in-the third rinsing process.

When certain steps in.the washing °Ρθ™; tion are to be eliminated, cut-out plugs 20 are placed in the respective holes 15. As -ahown under Hotel, the third and last three 50 steps of the washing operation are cut-out by the plugs 20.

In starting a washing operation the operator places the indicator plug 18 m the uppermost open hole 15 in the vertical col55 iimn under the type or class of clothes to be washed and as each successive step in the operation is completed; he moves the indicator plug 18 downward and into the next open hole 15.
