CANDLE

Application flled December 17, 1928. Serial No. 326,623.

The present invention relates to candles and has for its principal object to position a spray of a suitable plant having a pleasing odor within the body of the candle, dur,-. ing the molding of the same so that the finished candle will carry the odor of the plant, at all times, including while the candle is being used as an ornament, as well as while the same is being burned.

i;) A still further object is to construct a candle of this character in a simple and practical manner, which not only enhances the appearance of the article but also produces a pleasing odor while the candle is being i > burned and which does not add to the cost of the article.

Other objects and advantages will become apparent from the following detailed description when used together with the ac; i companying drawings forming part hereof, and wherein:

Figure 1 is an elevational view of a candle constructed in accordance with my invention?

Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view therethrough, and

Figure 3 is a bottom plan view.

In carrying out the invention I employ the use of an ordinary wax candle indicated go generally at 5, which may be of the conventional tapering formation or of any suitable shape and provided with the cord burner 6 extending longitudinally therethrough.

During the molding of the candle, in the 35 usual manner well known in the art, I insert one or more sprays or twigs of a desirable plant 7 in the mold, together with the burner 6, so that as the wax from which the candle is constructed is poured into the mold, the 45 spray of the plant 7 will become embedded in the wax as will be indicated in Figure 2 of the drawings.

The spray of the plant has the leaves 8 remaining thereon while being molded with 45 the candle so that upon the removal of the candle from the mold some of the leaves will appear close to the surface of the candle and by reason of the usual transparent or semitransparent nature of the wax the leaves will so be visible beneath the surface of the candle.

The sprays of the plant employed in carrying put the invention may be of any suitable character, such as sage brush, cedar, pine, rose, lavender and any other plant giving off a pleasing odor. 5-,

It is obvious that my invention is susceptible to various changes and modifications in construction without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim, and I accordingly claim &lt;’·«» all such forms of the device to which I am entitled.
