A battery is housed within the casing and consists of a flat circular body portion 16 of a diameter slightly smaller than the bottom container 10 and formed with an alcove 17 directly beneath the plain glass area 15. The bottom container 10 is formed with a vertical section 25 in one side, and extending from the top to. the bottom and hinged at 85 the bottom by a hinge 26 connected with the base of the container. A spring 27 is coaxially mounted upon the hinge and arranged to normally urge the section 25 inwards against stop lugs 28 secured to a ⁹⁰portion of the container immediately adjacent the section 25. This arrangement permits the section to be pivoted forwards but restrains back pivoting only to the vertical, lhe section 25 is formed with a finger nail ⁸⁵grip 29 on its froiit face. This invention relates to new and useful improvements in search lights and has more particular reference to a novel mirror search •light.

The battery may be renewed by θΡθηΐξδ the cover and removing the entire battery. When the tongue 18 of the battery is disengaged from beneath the socket 30, the section ³⁰ 25 may be pivoted outwards for permitting the aiiutteiW H th. law 31 ta™ °”¹and it is desired to replace the lamp only, the section 32 may be manually raised for- freeing the section 25 which may then be pivoted ³⁵ outwards as indicated by the dot and dash lines 36 in Fig. 3, which then permits the replacement desired, , ,
