A mechanical toy including a central housing having openings in the side Avails thereof, a transverse bar passing through io the housing and having a rocking support within the housing, a track member encircling the housing and secured to the opposite ends of the cross bar, and means in the housing and supported thereby for im1 5 parting a progressive tilting motion to the cross bar to correspondingly rock the track member, and a gravity propelled object on the track member.

The invention is for an improvement in a mechanical racing toy. .
The invention relates to toys of. the general type disclosed in my co-pending ap5 plication Serial No. 665,114 filed September 27. 1923. ' .
In toys of this type, a gyratory.motion is imparted to a suitable pan having one or more continuous tracks thereon.. As the 10 pan . gyrates, gravity propelled objects guided by the tracks are caused to travel around the tracks. Where there are two or more tracks, the appearance of a race is simulated and an extremely attractive <sup>15</sup> and fascinating toy is provided.
This invention is for an improved mechanical structure for toys of this type wherein the appearance and assembly of the toy is improved and facilitated, and 20 wherein a relatively compact and rugged construction is secured.
The invention has for a further object to provide a smooth-running toy of improved construction.

In the drawings, 5 designates a flanged base member of which 6 is the flange. At the center of the base member is a recess 5<sup>a</sup>. At diametrically opposite points the 40 recess in the base extends out to the periphery of the base, such diametrically opposite radial depressions being designated 5”.
Tightly fitted over the flange of the base, 45 and secured thereto is the wall 7 of a cylindrical housing having a. top 8. In the side of the cylinder at diametrically opposite points and in line with recessed portions 5” of the base, are vertical slots 9.

In assembling the toy, the base may be the part last secured in place, so that the toy 3 can be easily assembled.
