Figure 3 shows the metal clamp to be used in sealing the sides or edges of the bag together.

Figure 4 shows the bag with the carry- ^r>0ing rod connected to both upright pieces of metal, ready to be filled with water or other liquids.

. Referring to the drawings, 10 designates the flexible body portion of the bag, which <ΐ·’> body portion may be formed of fabric, rubber or-other flexible material. It will- bo understood from the drawings Fig· 1, that the flexible body portion 10 is made of a strip of cloth double the height of the bag. and that this flexible body portion .10 is folded and the edges permanently clamped together with the metal piece 11,. Figure· 3, the clamping process having been accomplished and tlic result shown in Figure 2. ·⁵11 designates the upright rigid narrow metal pieces or side seams. 12 designates the rod or bail and is used for temporarily connecting the upper ends of the metal upright pieces 11 at 14 and 15, forming a bail or ⁸⁰rod with which to carry the bag. 13 indicates a knob or button to prevent rod 12 from slipping out of contact with the metal side 11 at 15. 17 indicates rod 12 looped through the Hole 14 and thus attaching it ⁸⁵to the metal upright piece 11. 18 indicates the bottom of the bag which is a continuation of the flexible body portion 10.

When it is desired to use this bag it maybe taken from a pocket, or from under the oo seat, or out of the tool kit of an automobile and rod 12 fastened in the hook 15. The bag is then ready to be filled with water or gasoline and carried to the car by holding it by the rod or bail 12 without fear of wast- «5 ing the contents of the bag. If it was not for the metal sides 11 the bag would collapse, unless it was held by both hands at the top, and while holding it with both hands at the top the liquid could not be ion disposed of without wasting a quantity of it. By holding to the metal sides 11 with both hands the upright position of the bag is rigid, and ‘by bringing these upright metal strips closer together than the ex- 105 treme distance permitted between them at the top, the operator forms a V-shape to direct the outward flow of the liquid. After the bag has performed the service required of it the bail or rod 12 may be dis- ³¹⁰connected at 15 and the loose end dropped into the bag. When this is clone rod 12

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Abner L. Holton, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Big Stone Gap. in the county of Wise 5 and State of Virginia, have invented; certain new and useful Improvements in VV'ater Bags, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a water bag for 10 temporary .use in carrying water to .steaming or empty radiators in automobiles, or carrying gasoline when it is necessary to borrow from other cars along the road in emergency cases.

io It is the object of the invention to provide a bag that rosy be made of flexible water and gasoline proof material, and arranged so as to be readily rolled up when not in use and stored in the side pocket, or so under the seat, or in the tool kit, of an automobile.

It is also an object of the invention to provide a bag of this character with rigid upright pieces or narrow rigid .strips of :-5 metal, one piece or strip on each side of the bag, to enable the person using it to carry it by holding to the .metal pieces, or strips, or to a rod running from one metal piece to the other, at the top of the bag, to prevent 3b spilling the contents of said bag.

It is also a further object of the invention to use the rigid upright pieces of metal to clamp the flexible liquid proof material together in the shape of a bag, and do away :;5 with the necessity for having to sew or otherwise fasten the flexible material in the form of a bag.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction and :: novel combination of parts hereinafter more fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings ; it being understood that various changes in the form, size and minor details of construction, within the scope of the claims may be resorted to without departing from the spirit, or sacrificing: any of the advantages of the invention.

In the drawings:

Figure 1 shows the bag before it is filled .: > ivith a liquid. The carrying rod is also shown connected at the top, to one of the upright pieces or strips of metal.

Figure 2 shows the bag having a portion torn away and one of the metal strips 55 clamped to the edges of the flexible body portion of the bag.
