Egg-wrapper.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, James F. Jones and Ley P. Rexford, citizens of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, in 5 the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in EggWrappers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming 10 part of this specification.

Our invention relates to wrappers m which eggs may be inclosed individually for transportation, thereby making it possible to place the eggs in any suitable con15 tainer without the necessity of resorting to the use of cell fillers, such as used in egg cases, the present wrapper being one more particularly intended to be. used by poultry fanciers in the transportation of. said eggs, 20 or by retail grocers in the delivery of a small number of eggs to their customers.

The main element of our wrapper is a strip l^a of corrugated paper so cut as to 30 provide a series of V-shaped laterally extending tongues 2^a at each side of the strip, said tongues being adapted to bend inwardly so that their side edges will touch and their points will meet at a common cen35 ter when the strip is wrapped circumferentially around an egg.· The corrugations of the strip l^a extend longitudinally of the strip, and said strip is scored transversely as seen at 3^a for the purpose of mashing the 40 corrugations in order that the strip may be readily bent around an egg.

designates an outer wrapper sheet to which the main corrugated strip l^a is preferably affixed. This outer wrapper sheet is 45 preferably thin paper of greater breadth and length than the corrugated strip. . The outer sheet 4 is preferably supplied with a sealing flap 5. .

In the use of our wrapper an egg is placed upon the sheet l^a which is wrapped around 50 the egg, the tongues 2^a being readily bent inwardly toward the common center, at each end of the wrapper strip l^a to constitute end closures as seen in Fig. Ill, and when the wrapping has been completed, the outer 55 sheet 4 shown in Fig. I may be twisted at its ends to prevent the end tongues 2^a from moving from their folded positions.

The longitudinal corrugations extend transversely of the lateral tongues 2^a, and the 60 wrapper strip l^a is scored transversely at 3^aso that the corrugations will bend at the junctions of the several tongues and also in line with the points of said tongues, thereby permitting the corrugated wrappers to fit 65 very closely around an egg.

If desired the outer wrapper sheet 4 may be dispensed with and in this event the ends of the corrugated sheets are preferably secured by a sealing flap 5^a shown in Fig. III. 70
