In the accompanying drawings I. have, illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention constructed according to the best mode I have 30 so far devised for the practical application of the principles of the invention.

Figure 1 is a side elevation , of the device : in use as a baby’s cradle. Fig. 2 is a side elevation, partly in section, on an enlarged 35 scale, of the same device converted for use as a baby’s high chair. Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the high chair. In Fig. 1 the invention is embodied in a baby’s; cradle· which is supported from the. four posts; or-uprights comprising the two short- posts 1 and the; two longer rear· posts % the posts being more clearly indicated in 60 Figi 3.: The front and rear pair of posts are connected by a· pair of telescoping extensible • members comprising the rod: 4 fixed to the front post and the hollow bar 5 fixed to the. rear post,· and· the front posts are connected ¢5 by an. upper- and lower cross bar 6 and 7 with an, intermediate bar 8, while the rear posts are· connected by the upper and lower bars 9 andlO. The bars 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are all rigidly: connected with their respective 70 posts· and form transverse brace bars for holding-the parts or posts firmly braced, while· diagonally arranged brace strips 11, 11 are fixed to the pairs of posts and the telescoping members 4' and & The device is 75 movable and for this purpose is^-, provided with, casters 12; in the, posts, as usual. The basket 13 which forms the cradle, is preferably; of wicker-work, or ratan, and is formed with a. fixed bottom 14, a foot board 15 80 which,is slidable, and a sectional head board . cqniprising members 16, and 17. In Fig. 1 it will be seen that the cradle is suspended by foot chains 18 and head chains 19 from the respective cross bars 6 and 9, and the 85 cradle may swing or oscillate on these chains as usual. The chains are fixed to the cradle, but are detachable from the cross bars, by means of eyebolts 20 in the bars and spring hooks or clasp hooks 21 that are attached to 90 the. ends of the chains, thus providing an easily detachable suspending means.

In Fig. 2 which shows the device converted for use as a chair, it will be noted that a rod or wire 22 extends along the face of the 95 bottom board 14, having its bent end 23 secured to the board, and its other end 24 passed through the board and secured at the outer side. This rod and a complementary one form guides for the slidable board 15 100 of the cradle, which is perforated, and adapts itself to be used as the seat of the chair. The seat is shown as resting on the top of the. front or short posts at the front of the chair, and. at the rear the seat is sup- 105 ported by a suitable number of pins 25 which are passed through perforations in the bottom board bored for this purpose. 14, which is in effect a base board and should be so considered. The portion 17 of the head board is hinged to the base board and for this purpose I employ a suitable number 5 of metallic rings 26 which are located in adjacent perforations in the two boards and permit a swing of the board 17 with relation to the base board 14. The swing of the board 17 is guided and the movement stead10 ied by means of the curved arms 27 carried at each side of the board and movable through the cleats or brackets 28 fixed to the basket 13. The tray portion 16 is held in place,. : permanently, by the tongue and 15 groove strips 29 and 30, the former on the tray 16 and the latter on the basket 13, and the foot board which forms the chair seat is supported as shown and described. In Fig. 2 the basket is shown as supported by 20 a pair of lugs 32, 32 on the inner side of the hollow bar 5. A foot rest 33 is provided, and as this rest or board is foldable, it is hinged at 34 to the cross bar 8, and is supported by a movable lug 35 swiveled in the 2E brackets 36 fixed to the post 1, and . movable from under the board when not to be used.h
