Absorbent product attachment tool
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to absorbent articles such as urine gland, exercise pants, incontinence pads. More particularly, the invention disclosed herein relates to disposable absorbent articles having improved fastening means for attaching the front side of the article to the rear side and / or folding the article before discarding.
Background of the invention
Many different types of refastenable fastening means are known, including laces, needles, hook and loop systems, screen systems, buttons, snap fasteners, nested shapes, fasteners, adhesive tapes, cohesive surfaces and zippers, and other slide connectors. Such fastening means have been used in a variety of permanent and disposable products. Typical uses include envelopes, garments, diapers, packs, shoes, closures of structures, general attachment needs and hygiene products for women.
Some-fastening tools eg. the hook and loop or adhesive tapes require alignment of the two surfaces attached to each other . These provide effective closure, but often lead to misapplications and / or improper alignment of the elements to be fastened. In addition, hook and loop fasteners may lose their effect due to shrinkage and contamination or damage the surrounding materials. When the adhesive system is used, improper attachment of the vehicle may render the entire product unusable. For example, in diaper applications, re-inserting a piece of tape that is not properly attached may cause the outer sheath of the diaper to rupture. In addition, adhesive systems can present performance problems due to contamination. Avoiding such problems
5240 To assist, this type of attachment means often requires an ineffective design and the use of extra material, which increases the cost of the product.
Other systems e.g. Buttons, snap fasteners, lugs and laces are limited because they connect individual points. When a single fastening means is used at a particular closure, the material around the fastening means is curled at the connection points. Furthermore, when it is desired to fasten a gap rather than a single point, these systems generally require the use of more than one fastening means for each closure. Multiple connections may be cumbersome and may cause gaps to form between the individual connection means components, especially when the connection is under pressure. These systems also require complete alignment of the components in order to achieve the desired connection. Some point-to-point connection systems require continuous force to be applied to the system until the connection is established.
Further examples of interlocking connections are disclosed in US Patent No. 198,097, Fnes, Dec. 11, 1877, U.S. Pat. No. 207,253, Chipley, issued Aug. 20, 1878; US Patent No. 378,874 to Davis, issued March 6, 1888; No. 771,719, Copeland, issued October 4, 1904; US Patent No. 791,654, Searle, issued June 6, 1905; No. 2,837,096 to Leveillee, issued June 3, 1958; No. 3,482,289 to Stradella, issued Dec. 9, 1969; No. 3,620,180 to Waldes, issued November 16, 1971; No. 3,834,824 Jahn, issued Sep. 10, 1974 and U.S. Pat. No. 4,001,924, Bengtsson, issued Jan. 11, 1977. Although all these fastening means can be attached to lengths or gaps, they have at least one major disadvantage, especially when used in disposable products such as diapers. Some of these require the user to apply pressure to the components to ensure connectivity. Some require a complicated process such as attaching a part to an element and then moving to another part below it. Also, some of the elements can be connected to at least one of the elements.
52404 deformation, which may reduce the load carrying capacity of the fastening means. Many of these do not have the properties to allow the fastening means to fit different surfaces during use and to exhibit an adjustable fit. Further, in disposable absorbent articles, e.g. When used in urine pads, these attachment means may leave marks on the skin and disturb the user.
It would therefore be advantageous to provide an improved fastening means. Furthermore, it would be advantageous to provide a refastenable means which makes it possible to easily attach lengths or gaps to each other rather than individual points. Furthermore, it will be advantageous to provide a refastenable fastening means that can be used with a variety of products such as adjustable and disposable products, absorbent articles, and in particular disposable absorbent articles. For this purpose, it is desirable to provide a refastenable fastening means which readily adapts to different surfaces during use and / or leaves minimal traces on the skin when used on the skin. Also, e.g. it will be advantageous to provide an absorbent article having a fastening means that easily adapts to a plurality of different configurations while the user is sitting, lying or upright. Accordingly, it is an object of the invention to provide disposable articles having improved strip and slit improved fastening means.
Summary of the Invention
The invention disclosed herein relates to an improved fastening means for use with disposable absorbent articles. The fastening means preferably comprises a strip member and a slit member. The slit member has an inner portion, an outer portion, and a slit which may include a cut or loop. The inner part is laterally disposed inside the outer part and the slot is positioned between the inner and outer part. The strip member has a length, a proximal edge, a distal edge, and a lip portion. Function of the attachment tool
52404 the strip element is passed through the slot of the slit element. When the strip member is passed through the slot, at least the lip portion coincides with the outer portion of the slot member, preventing the strip member from being separated from the slot member. The invention described herein also relates to products having striped and slit fastening means. Products for which this attachment means may be used include urine pads, menstruation pads, baby bibs, dressings, packs, and the like. However, the invention is not limited to such uses, but includes other suitable uses of the strip and slit attachment means.
The fastening means according to the invention can solve any or all of the defects of other known fastening means. For example, the strip and slit fastening means according to the invention are strong and easy to use, and can also be arranged to fit the shaped surfaces and not to damage the skin. The striped and slit fastening means can be used and reassembled without damaging the product or itself. Furthermore, the strip and slit fastening means can combine lengths or gaps without the need for multiple fastening means. The configuration of the striped and slotted fastening means does not require extra material, as in the case of tape and web fastening means, to ensure good bonding. In addition, disposable products are e.g. As a particularly important feature for urine pads, the striped and slit fastening means can provide connection between the panels without the need to overlap the panels. Thus, the material used in the disposable product is reduced and thus the total cost of the product is reduced. In this case, the strip and slit fastening means according to the invention may have advantages without having the disadvantages of conventional fastening systems.

As seen in FIG. 1, the diaper 20 is preferably a liquid pervious topsheet 22; a liquid impervious substrate 24 attached thereto; an absorbent core 26 disposed therebetween; side panels 28; the legs 32 and a waist region 30. (As used herein, the term bonded includes configurations in which one element is attached directly to another element and configurations in which one element is attached to another element by the other element (s) in between.)
1 shows an outer surface 52, an inner surface 50, a first waist region 36, a second waist region 38, and a crotch region 37 positioned between the first waist region 36 and the second waist region 38. comprising. The diaper 20 further comprises longitudinal edges 54 and end edges 56. 20 The inner surface of the diaper 50 generally constitutes the surface of the diaper 20 towards the wearer during use (i.e., the inner surface 50 generally consists of the topsheet 22 and other associated components). The outer surface 52 generally forms the surface of the diaper 20 away from the wearer during use (i.e., the outer surface 52 generally consists of the substrate 24 and other associated components). 20 The diaper further comprises a longitudinal axis 100 and a transverse axis 110.
In the preferred embodiment shown in Figure 1, the length and width of the portions of the topsheet 12 and the backsheet 24 are generally greater than the dimensions of the absorbent core 26. The topsheet 22 and backsheet 24 extend beyond the edges of the absorbent core 26 to form the periphery of the diaper 20. While the topsheet 22, the backsheet 24 and the absorbent core 26 can be made of many different materials and are configurable in a variety of known configurations, preferred diaper materials and configurations are generally described in US Patent 3,860,003, Contractable Side Portions for Disposable Diaper, Kenneth B. Buell, Jan. 14, 1975; U.S. Pat. No. No. 5,151,092 issued to Buell on Sep. 9, 1992; and USA

Pat. No. No. 5,221,274 to Buell, issued Jun. 22, 1993.
The absorbent core 26 will generally be made of materials that are compressible, compliant, non-irritating to the wearer's skin, and capable of absorbing and retaining urine and other body fluids. The absorbent core 26 is available in a wide variety of sizes and shapes (e.g. It may be rectangular, hourglass-shaped, T-shaped, asymmetric, etc.) and may be made of materials such as crushed wool pulp, commonly referred to as air felt, used in disposable diapers and other absorbent articles. Examples of other suitable absorbent materials include crushed cellulose buffer; meltblown polymers such as coform; chemically compacted, modified or cross-linked cellulosic fibers; wrapped or layered tissues; absorbent foams; absorbent sponges; superabsorbent polymers; absorbent gel-forming materials; and other equivalent materials or combinations of materials.
The backsheet 24 is preferably impervious to liquids (e.g., urine) and is preferably made of plastic film or a non-woven tissue, but other flexible and impervious materials may be used, as used herein, the term flexible being compatible with the human body and readily conforming to the shape of the body. materials. The backsheet 24 prevents the liquids 20 absorbed and retained therein in the absorbent core 26 from wetting articles such as sheets, underwear that contact the diaper.
Thus, substrate 24 may be formed from a material, whether or not knitted, polymeric films, e.g. polyethylene or polypropylene thermoplastic films or composite materials, e.g. a film-coated non-woven material. Preferably, the backsheet is a thermoplastic film having a thickness of from about 0.012 mm (0.5 mil) to about 0.051 mm (2.0 mils). Preferred materials for the substrate include Tredegar Industries, Inc. of Terre Haute, IN; XJL5306 film, X10964 film and X 10962 film
52404 There. The backsheet 24 will preferably be made of embossed and / or matte material to have a fabric-like appearance. Further, the backsheet 24 will allow the vapor 26 to move away from the absorbent core 26 (ie not prevent body breathing), but will not allow liquids to pass through the respective layer 24. In one embodiment, the backsheet 26 is a fabric made of a structural elastic-like film (SELF). SELF tissues which can be used according to the invention disclosed herein are described in more detail in US Pat. No. 5,518,801, Web Materials Exhibiting Elastic-Like Behavior, Chappell et al., Issued May 21, 1996.
The topsheet is preferably compliant and soft, and will not irritate the wearer & apos; s skin. Further, the topsheet will be liquid pervious, permitting liquids (e.g., menses and / or urine) to pass through this topsheet. A suitable topsheet may be woven or nonwoven materials (e.g. a nonwoven fiber web); polymeric materials such as apertured thermoplastic films, apertured plastic films, hydroformed plastic films; porous foams; lattice braided foams; cage braided thermoplastic films and thermoplastic fabrics. Suitable materials, both woven and non-woven, are made of natural fibers (e.g., wood or cotton fibers), synthetic fibers (e.g. polyester, polypropylene or polyethylene fibers) or a mixture of natural and synthetic fibers. When the topsheet comprises a nonwoven web, the web may be fabricated by any of a variety of known techniques. This tissue can be, for example, spunbonded, glued onto the card, spread out wet, melt formed, wrapped around each other in the wet state or. or a combination thereof. Suitable topsheets include Veratec Inc., a division of International Paper Company at Walpole. under the trade name P-8. Another preferred topsheet is disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 3,929,135 to Thompson, issued Dec. 30, 1975; U.S. Pat. No. 4,324,246, Mullane et al., Issued April 13, 1982; USA

Each of the leg cuffs 32 used to prevent leakage of body waste from the leg region may be of a different configuration. (Leg sleeves, sometimes referred to as leg straps, side flaps, barrier wings, elastic leg wings, sealing wings, or elastic wings.) Disposable absorbent article having shrinkable leg openings as described in US Patent 3,860,003, incorporated herein by reference. and a side tab forming the elastic leg sleeve (sealing flap) and one or more elastic members. Aziz et al. on March 20, 1990, entitled Disposable absorbent article having elasticized flaps.
The disposable absorbent article disclosed in US Pat. No. 4,909,803 includes vertically elasticized sleeves (barrier flaps) which enhance sealing in leg areas. The disposable absorbent article disclosed in US Patent 4,695,279 entitled Lawson's absorbent article having dual wings on September 22, 1997, which is incorporated herein by reference, includes a sealing flap 31 and a barrier flap 32.
The diaper preferably further comprises a waist region 30 which improves compliance and retention of body fluids.
The waist region 30 20 is the portion or portion of the diaper which dynamically and elastically rests on the wearer's waist. The elastic waist region 30 generally extends outwardly from at least one of the waist edges 39 of the absorbent core 39 in the longitudinal direction 26 and generally forms at least a portion of the end edge of the diaper 56. The disposable pads are generally arranged to have two elastic waist regions, one of which is disposed in the regions of the first waist region 36 and the second waist region 38, but the urine pads are disposed in a single region.
52404 elastic waist region. Further, the elastic waist region 30 or one of the forming elements 20 may comprise another member connected to the diaper 20, although the elastic waist region 30 preferably comprises 20 other members of the diaper 20, e.g. the backsheet 24, the topsheet 22, or both. Examples of waist regions that may be used are US Patent 4,515,595, Kievit et al., Issued May 7, 1985; US Pat. No. 5,151,092 to Buell, issued Sep. 9, 1992; and US Pat. No. No. 5,221,274 to Buell, issued Jun. 22, 1993; these patents are incorporated herein by reference.
The diaper preferably further comprises a fastening system 40, which attaches at least a portion of the first waist region 38 of the diaper 36 to at least a portion of the second waist region 38 and preferably forms leg and waist openings. The anchoring system 40 also cooperates with the waist region (s) 30, thereby maintaining the lateral tension so that the diaper 20 remains on the wearer. As shown in FIG. 1, the fastening system 40 can be the primary fastening system and can connect the first and second waist regions 36 and 38. The term primary anchoring system, as used herein, means an anchoring system that allows the diaper to remain in its normal position when the wearer is above. Thus, the primary fastening system should generally be strong enough to withstand the dynamic forces generated by the movement of the user during the normal use period of the product.) However, the fastening system 40. alone or other fastening means, e.g. hook and loop fastening means, band fastening means, snap fasteners, buttons, and the like, thereby achieving different fastening properties. For example, the fastening system 40 may be used to wrap the diaper 20 before it is disposed of after use. Further, the secondary fastening means 20 can be used to increase the compatibility of the diaper or to provide a support between the first waist region 36 and the second waist region 38.
52404 can be used to strengthen the connection. (As used herein, the term secondary fastening means refers to the fastening system, which is not used independently to hold the diaper in the wearer's body during use, but which provides additional benefits such as adaptability, adjustability, disposability in support of the primary fastening system.)
The fastening system 40 preferably comprises fastening means 41, which comprises a strip member 42 and a slit member 44. Embodiments 41, however, are also included within the scope of the invention, wherein the fastening means 41 comprises at least two slit elements 44 and are interconnected as shown in FIG. In alternative embodiments, joined strip / slit elements 43 may also be used, as shown in Fig. 19.) The strip member 42 preferably comprises a generally longitudinally positioned member, which includes a proximal edge 60, a distal edge 62, a lip portion 48, and T long. The slit member 44 includes an inner portion 64, an outer portion 66 and a slot 46 between the inner portion 64 and the outer portion 66. As shown in FIG. 4, the slit member 44 is the length L, and the slit 46 is the length S.
In a simple embodiment, the fastening means 41, the strip member 42. it is fully secured by passing the slot member 44 through the slot 46. (In embodiments with two or more slit elements 44 connected to one another, one of the slit elements 44 is passed through the other slit element 44, as shown in Figure 13.) portion 44 is in a plane generally parallel to the slit member, so that at least a portion of the lip portion 48 overlaps at least a portion of the outer portion of the slit member 66. In this configuration, the lip portion 42 of the strip member 48 prevents the slide member 42 from slipping back from the slot 46 and opening the fastening means 41. A portion of the strip member 42 or the material from which it is made extends into the slot 46 as shown in FIG. Inside the slot 46
52404 the material forms a resistance to the shear forces which will cause the strip member 42 and the slit member 44 to be separated from one another.
Ribbon element
As shown in FIG. 5, the strip member 42 preferably has a length T, a proximal edge 60, a distal edge 62, and a lip portion 48 next to at least a portion of the proximal edge 60. The strip member preferably has longitudinal edges 47 and central region 49. The lip portion 48 is not directly connected to the substructure to which the strip member 42 is attached. As noted above, the lip portion 48 is distant from the substrate of the product and thus overlaps at least a portion of the outer portion of the slit member 66 during use. In some preferred embodiments, the frame 42 of the frame 42 further comprises a gripping portion 68, which generally extends outwardly from this edge alongside the distal edge of the frame 42 of the frame 42. 68 the grip portion facilitates the work of the user 41 when fastening or unfastening the fastening means 41, and preferably the frame 42 extends outwardly from the distal edge of the central region 62 of the strip member 49.
The strip member 42 may be of any size and / or shape and may be made of any suitable material. Generally, however, the strip 42 member will be large enough to pass through the slot 46 of the slot member 44 without deformation or bending any component. 42 The shape of the strip member 41 will depend on the area of use of the fastening means, but will in any case be aesthetically pleasing, easy to use and arranged to remain in a fixed position against the forces and external conditions expected to arise during use of the product. The strip member 42 or a portion thereof will be located outside the user-generating regions. The regions of the user that create compression are those in which the user's natural body movements are inward. User
52404 the regions that create expansion are the regions where the user's natural body movements are outward. There are various compression and expansion zones in the wearer's body, particularly the knee, elbow, shoulder, hip, heel, and wrist. In order to determine whether a particular region of the body is a region which produces compression or expansion according to the invention, it is necessary to examine the changes in the surrounding anatomical structure from the neutral position to the oblique position. The neutral position is the position where the joint is not bent, ie the muscles are generally in a relaxed state and do not exert any force to bend the joint. The anatomical structure in the vicinity is e.g. tissues, bones, etc. This region is defined as a region that creates a compression when it tends to compress or bend an object on the surface of the body. When the surrounding anatomical structure tends to expand or extend an object on the surface of the body, this region is defined as a region that produces expansion. For example, Fig. 20A is a top-down view of a waist section of a article. The regions shown in this example are those related to a diaper. B posterior region is the posterior region of the wearer and includes the muscles and tissues associated with the legs; The S1 and S2 side regions are the side regions of the user; The F region is also the anterior or pubic region of the user. Fig. 20B is a side view of the neutral hip joint of a baby whose back and legs are generally vertical. Fig. 20C is a side view of a baby with the hip joint bent and the legs generally horizontal.
Figures 20B and 20C are joined by dotted axes, which show the relative position of the side and back regions of the body in the neutral and bent position, respectively. For example, the side regions S1 and S2 are those regions that create pinching because the vertical distance between the two points of the skin surface is reduced when the user lifts his legs or bends his waist. The back region B of the wearer's legs B is an expansion zone, since the vertical distance between the two points of the skin surface is increased, except when the legs are bent back too much.
52404
In a diaper application for infants, the posterior region B is typically considered to be the region of enlargement, since movements such as sitting and bending forward are more common, since these movements increase the distance between the two points on the skin. In movements where the legs are bent back too much, e.g. the distance between the two points on the skin decreases in the jackets where the legs are moved substantially backwards and the back is held in a vertical position. This is, however, much less likely than when the legs are brought forward or the user leans forward. For example, when the wearer is running, the leg moves essentially backward, but the wearer also tends to lean forward and thus the distance between the two points on the skin is not reduced. The principle of avoiding compression-generating zones and utilizing expansion-generating zones can also be applied to products other than urine pads, and examples of such products include sanitary napkins, baby gowns, and dressings used in other regions of the wearer to include, but are not limited to, the invention.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, when the strip member 42 or a portion thereof is attached, it can be placed in an expanding region of the user, thereby minimizing the compressive forces transferred by the body 42 to the skeleton strip member when the user moves. In the waist fastening system of the diaper 140 shown in FIG. 21, for example, the strip member 142 includes a non-linear distal edge 162 corresponding to the distal edge 162 of FIG. 5, the skeleton 42 generally extending from the middle region 68 of the strip member 49. and, for the comfort of the user and for aesthetic reasons, the longitudinal edges are rounded. In this embodiment, the C-shaped 162 distal edge 142 makes it possible to position the central region of the strip member 149 in front of the wearer, and to insert the longitudinal ends 147 away from a compression-forming region of the wearer.
52404 It brings. This makes it easier for the caregiver to grasp the portion 168 extending outwardly from the central region of the strip member 149 when applying the diaper to the wearer 142, and furthermore, when the wearer pulls the legs towards the body, the longitudinal ends 147 move away from the compression-forming region. This reduces the likelihood that the wearer's skin 142 will be squeezed against the strip member and thus the skin will be stained or irritated. Alternatively, the strip member 142 may include, but not limited to, distal edge 162, one or more longitudinal ends 147, proximal edge 160, or attachment region 172 between the strip member 165 and the retention material 165, and may also include other linear or non-linear shapes. It may include D-shaped, U-shaped, V-shaped or any other shaped material, thereby reducing the possibility of skin staining or irritation. For example, the shape of the strip member 142 may cause a portion thereof to move away from a compression-forming region or to reduce the area of the strip member 142 opposite a compression-forming region. Furthermore, it may be preferred that the different regions of the strip member 42 are moved away from the regions that create compression by placing them in different directions. For example, extending only one of the longitudinal ends of the ribbon member 47 toward the front or back of the central region 49, or placing the two in opposite directions, thereby removing them from the central region 49, e.g. it can be provided that the upper longitudinal end extends forwardly and the rear longitudinal end extends backwards or vice versa.
The materials 41 from which the frame strip member is manufactured are selected according to the area of use of the fastening means. For example, in the case where the fastening means 41 is to be used in a diaper as in FIG. 1, the strip member 42 may include any suitable material therein, and examples thereof include, but are not limited to, plastics, films, foams, nonwoven tissues, knitted tissues, paper, laminated structures, steel, fiber reinforced plastics and the like
52404 combinations. In cases where the attachment means is used to contact the skin of a human or animal, preferred materials 42 are those that make the strip member flexible. Flexibility
41 it ensures that the attachment means fits the body, thereby preventing the attachment means 41 from irritating or injuring the wearer's skin.
the strip member may comprise one or more 70 strip members. The strip member 42 comprising a single strip member 70 is shown in Figures 1, 2 and 6. The strip member 42 having a plurality of 70 strip members is shown in Figures 3, 9 and 10. When the strip member 42 comprises a plurality of strip members 70, they will preferably be functionally interrelated. (As used herein, the term functionally related,z refers to elements which are indirectly connected to each other and which generally function as a single element, the term directly connected refers to elements which are connected without any other element except for the material (eg an adhesive) necessary to fasten them together. The term indirectly connected refers to elements which are connected by means of an element other than the material necessary to fasten them together.) Thus, 42 strip elements 70, regardless of the number of strip elements 70,
41 it acts as a single element of the fastening means. This is important in terms of the complexity of the fastening means 41 and the ability to fasten the strip member 42 in a single movement, whether it comprises a single or more strip elements.
42 the strip member may be a member attached to or separate from the article to which it is attached and attached to the article. The strip member 42 may be attached to any part of the product. For example, in the disposable absorbent article embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the strip member 42 is an extension of the material forming the side panel. In such cases, it is preferable to use an additional material or to treat the material from which the side panel 28 is manufactured to alter its physical properties.
52404 It may be. For example, it is desired that the side panel 28 be an extensible material but the strip member 42 is not extensible. may is. Further, it may be preferred that the strip member 42 be more rigid or stiffer than the side panel 28 to provide good adhesion. Alternatively, the strip member 42 may be a separate member attached to the article. In such cases, the strip member 42 may be made of the same or different material as the product to which it is attached, so that the fastening means 41 can have the desired properties according to the field of use. In addition, certain regions of the material from which the strip member 42 is manufactured can be strengthened and / or weakened so that the fastening means 41 has the desired flexibility or rigidity. According to one embodiment, one or both of the longitudinal ends 42 of the strip member 47 are strengthened and / or weakened. In other embodiments, the grip strip 69 of the strip member 69 is strengthened and / or weakened. Methods of weakening the material include notching, cutting, thinning, bending, heating, chemical treatment, and the like. Reinforcement methods include heating or chemical treatment, adding material, increasing thickness, and the like.
the strip member may have a second fastening member 78 and may be used to connect the components of the fastening means 41 to each other, the product using the fastening means and / or other products. For example, the strip member 42 may be located next to the gripping portion 68 or the distal edge 62 as shown in FIG. (Alternative embodiments in which the second fastening member 78 is connected to other parts of the strip member 42 are also included within the scope of the invention.) The second fastening member 41 can be used to provide the fastening means 41 with better shear resistance or peel force, better fit or other properties. In addition, the second fastener 78 is used for winding the product for disposal after use.
52404 It may be used. The second fastening member 78 may be any known means such as hook, loop, adhesive, cohesive, magnetic materials, static electricity, snap fastener, and a combination thereof.
The slit member 41 is a part of the fastening means 41 and the strip member 42 passes through it to close the device. The slot member 44 includes an inner portion 64, an outer portion 66 and a slot 46 disposed therebetween. The slit member 44 further preferably includes longitudinal ends 45 and a central region 61. The slit member 44 and the length of the slit are shown as L and S respectively. The length S of slot 46 is up to the length L of slot member 42. However, the length S of slot 46 is generally at least about the length T of the strip member 42, so that the strip member 42 can pass through the slot 46 without bending or deforming these components. This slit alternatively has a cut that does not contain any other gap than the scratch resulting from the cutting operation. The slit member 44 further comprises a gripping portion 69 such as the strip member 42. Preferably, the gripping portion 44 extends laterally outwardly from the outer portion of the slit member 66. The gripping portion 69 makes it easy for the user to grasp the slit member 44 when opening or closing the fastening means 41, and preferably extends outwardly from the outer portion 66 in the mid region 66 of the slit member 61.
The slit element may be of any size and shape and may be made of any suitable material. The shape of the slit member 44, such as the strip member 42 and the material from which it is made depends on the area of use of the fastening means 41. For example, the slit element 44 in urine pads will be made of a material which will not harm the skin. Thus, it is preferred that the edges of the fastening means 41 be rounded and the dimensions of the slot 46 are minimized so that the means 41 does not damage the skin. One way to minimize this risk,
52404 The edges of the slit is not sharp. Another way to reduce the risk of the anchoring means damaging the skin is to reduce the thickness of the slit member 44 (preferably at most 0.05 inches), or to arrange the strip member 42 or slit member 42 so that the slit 46 is filled. Another method is to make at least the wearer surface of the fastening means 41 made of a soft or compressible material. Another way to reduce the risk of the anchoring means damaging the skin is to arrange the shape of the slit member 44 or portion thereof as described above for the strip member 42, such that the shape corresponds to an expansion-forming region of the user as described above for the strip member 142. For example, the slit member 144 shown in FIG. 21 is a non-linear C-shaped arrangement, whereby the longitudinal ends of the slit member 145 move away from the compression-forming region when the wearer's hip is bent.
As shown in Figures 22A, 22B and 22C, slot member 242 includes a loop 244 under which the strip member 242 is locked and locked. The stitch 244 may be a separate element attached to a portion of the product, such as a backsheet, in the waist region or groin region. Alternatively, the loop 244 may be an internal part of the product, for example an opening in the backsheet of the diaper. 242 when the strip member 244 engages the loop 244, the retention material is connected to the strip member 272 to the bonding region 272 as described above for the loop 244 and fastens the proximal edge 260 to the loop 244. Preferably, the distance L between the bonding region 265 of the retention material 265 and the distal edge 242 of the strip member 262 is greater than the distance H between the loop 244 and the substrate, so that the force exerted on the 265 retention material 242 does not remove the distal edge of the strip member 262. The distance H is preferably also a distance that allows the strip member 242 to pass through the loop 244. In addition, the base 271 in the loop 244 is provided so that the strip member 244 is not deformed or dislodged under load.
52404 It may be used. The base 271 may be part of the loop 244 or may be a separate member from the loop 244. When the base 271 is a separate element, it can be connected to the loop 244 as shown in FIG. Alternatively, this base can be connected to the loop between the backsheet and the absorbent core 226 below it.
The slit member 42 may be made of the same or different material as the strip member, including plastics, films, foams, nonwoven textures, knitted textures, paper, layered structures, steel, fiber reinforced plastics and the like, and combinations thereof. As described for the strip member 42, the preferred materials will be flexible. However, the slit member 44 will be rigid such that it will not deform in the lateral direction and the strip member 42 will not be displaced under normal use conditions. One, according to the embodiment, one or both of the longitudinal ends of the slit member 44 are strengthened and / or weakened. In other embodiments, the grip strip of the slit member 44 is strengthened and / or weakened. Methods of weakening the material include notching, cutting, thinning, bending, heating, chemical treatment, and the like. Reinforcement methods include heating or chemical treatment, adding material, increasing thickness, and the like.
The slit element may be a member attached to or separate from the product to which it is attached and attached to the product. The slit member 44 may be attached to any part of the product. For example, in the disposable absorbent article arrangement 44 shown in FIG. 12, the slit member 28 is an extension of the material forming the side panel. In such cases, it may be preferable to use an additional material or to treat the side panel 28 so as to alter the physical properties of the material from which it is made. For example, it may be desirable that the side panel 28 is an extensible material but the slit member 44 is not extensible. In addition, good adhesion can be achieved
52404 For example, it may be preferred that the slit member 44 is more rigid or stiffer than the side panel 28. Alternatively, the slit member 44 may be a separate member attached to the product. In such cases, the slit member 44 may be made of the same or different material as the product to which it is attached, so that the fastening means 41 can have the desired properties according to the field of use. Furthermore, certain regions of the material from which the slit member 44 is made can be strengthened and / or weakened so that the fastening means 41 has the desired flexibility or rigidity.
the slit member may have a second fastening member 78 and may be used to connect the components of the fastening means 41 to each other, the product using the fastening means, and / or other products. For example, the slit member 44 may be located near the gripping portion 62 or the distal edge 62 thereof. Alternative embodiments wherein the second fastening member 78 is connected to other parts of the strip member 42 are also within the scope of the invention. The second fastening element 41 can be used to give the fastening means a better shear resistance or peel force, better fit or other properties. Furthermore, the second fastening member 78 can be used to wrap the product for disposal after use.
Examples for using the anchor tool
The fastening means 41 according to the invention can be used in a variety of fastening systems, including disposable and continuous absorbent articles, packages, straps, baby bibs, bags, girdles, boxes, and the like. There. The device described herein is particularly suitable for situations where a simple, cost-effective fastening means is sufficient, for example for diaper pads, sanitary napkins, exercise pants, dressings and the like. However, changes to the size and shape of the strip member 42 and / or the slot member 44 make the fastening means 41 possible for other applications, e.g. armchair
I: l
52404 belts, belts, construction materials, etc. will make it convenient for you. Accordingly, the following examples of use of the fastening means 41 do not limit the scope of the invention.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the strip member 20 of the fastening means 42 is attached to the side panel 38 of the diaper 28 in the second waist region and the slit member 36 is connected to the side panel 28 in the longitudinal direction 28 in the first waist region. Products which do not include side panels extending from the longitudinal edges 54 are also within the scope of the invention. In such cases, the strip member 42 and / or the slit member 44 may be connected to the first waist region 38 of the product 36, the second waist region or the groin region 37.) The 42 strip member 42 is to be provided without limitation for distal edge 62, one or more longitudinal ends 47, the edge 60 or 42 may include attachment region 72 between the strip member 65 and the retention material 65, and may also include other linear or non-linear, D-shaped, U-shaped, It may include a V-shaped or any other shaped material, thereby reducing the possibility of skin staining or irritation. For example, the shape of the strip member 42 may cause a portion thereof to move away from a compression-forming region or to reduce the area of the strip member 42 opposite a compression-forming region.
Furthermore, it may be preferred that the different regions of the strip member 42 are moved away from the regions that create compression by placing them in different directions.
the side panels each have a length 74. The length 74 is measured parallel to the longitudinal axis 100 of the side panel 72 adjacent the attachment region 72. (Where the side panel 110 extends outwardly at an angle to the transverse axis, the length of the side panel 74 is preferably measured parallel to the attachment region 72, not the longitudinal axis 100.) Preferably, the length T of the strip member 42 is at least about 25% of the side panel 28, better yet approx. Less than 50% is up. 42 the length of the connecting region 72 between the strip member and the side panel 28.
52404 It is also preferred that the strip member T is at least about 25% of the length T. In order to increase the stability of the strip member 42 and to distribute the loads exerted on the fastening means 41, it is preferred that the length of the bonding region 72 is at least about 50% of the length of the strip member 42. In particularly preferred embodiments, the length of the bonding region 72 is the entire length T of the strip member 42. In each case, the bonding region 72 is continuous or discontinuous, and the loads on the fastening means are at least about 25% of the loads above the length of the side panel 74 in the closed state 28. (As used herein, the term continuous means 72 continuous or unbroken in relation to the binding region. The discrete term 72 refers to broken or discontinuous in relation to the binding region.)
Figures 3 and 10 show an alternative embodiment of the fastening means 41 according to the invention, comprising 42 strip elements and two strip elements 70. The strip elements 70 are disposed separately in the longitudinal direction 44 to the slots of the slot member 46. However, the strip elements 70 are preferably operatively connected to each other so that the fastening means 41 can be easily closed and opened. 70 the strip elements may be directly or indirectly attached to each other. For example, the strip elements 70 are interconnected by a stiffening element 76 extending therebetween. The stiffening member 76 may be made of any material attached to or part of the strip member 42. According to one embodiment, the stiffening member 76 is formed from one or more materials, e.g. foam, film, fibers, and the like, and is attached to the diaper 20 or the product to which the strip member 42 is attached.
The slit member 44 shown in FIG. 8 can be used in combination with the above multi-member strip member 42. The slit element 44 shown in FIG. 8 comprises two slits which are separated from each other in the longitudinal direction and FIG.
52404
9 corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the strip elements 70. The slots 46 are of length S1 and S2 and are arranged so that the corresponding strip element 70 can pass through without deformation of the elements. Of course, the strip elements 70 may also be of different length, such as slots 46 and slot elements 44. Further, a slot member 44 that can be used in conjunction with a multi-member strip member 42 may have a single slot 46, which corresponds to the strip members 70, or may have more slot 46 than the strip members 70. In addition, two or more slit elements 44 slits 46 can be used and they can be aligned longitudinally with the fastening means 41.
As shown in FIG. 11, products such as diapers 20, wherein the fastening means 41 may be used, comprise any number of strip elements 42 which may engage slit elements 44. As can be seen, the diaper 20 comprises side panels 28, which also comprise rib members 42 laterally separated from one another. Such configurations can be used, for example, in the manufacture of products that can be adjusted laterally in the waist region of the diapers.
In other embodiments, as seen in FIG. 14, the diaper 20 may comprise a plurality of slit members 44 or a plurality of slits 46. This arrangement can also be used in the manufacture of products that can be adjusted laterally.
In another embodiment, the fastening means 341 forms an adjustable fastening system, wherein one or more strips 315 pass through at least one slit member 344. The strip 315 and the slit member 344 may be arranged to prevent movement of the strip 315 by rubbing the strip member 344 of the strip member 344. Preferably, the friction of the strip 315 on the slit member 344 prevents the strip 315 from moving at least in the longitudinal direction. 315 The strip and slit member 344 may be arranged such that the strip 315 can move freely in the lateral direction or be constrained or completely eliminated within the slit member 344. Lateral movement of the strip, for example,
52404 by friction or by placing the lip portion 48 of the strip member 48 on the slit member 344. In a preferred embodiment shown in FIG. 23, the attachment means 341 may comprise two slit members 344, and in this case the strip 315 is secured by passing through the two slits 346 of the slit members 344. Alternatively, two or more slit members 344 or a single slit member 344 containing three or more slits 346 may be used.
Alternatively, as shown in Figure 24, an adjustable 341 fastening means may comprise a strip 315 and may have a fastening member 316 at the distal end of the strip 315 362. In one embodiment, a portion of the strip or product may further comprise a region to which the distal end of the strip 362 can be secured. In this embodiment, the strip 315 passes through the at least one slit member 344 and is secured back to the strip 315 or the product 316 via the fastening member. The distal end of the strip 362 may be attached to itself or to another portion of the product, a substrate or another portion of the strip 315 or the product as described above. For example, as shown in FIG. 24, the strip 315 'folds over itself and the distal end of strip 315' 362 includes a fastening means, which is attached to a portion of the strip 315 and connects the first waist region to the second waist region. 316 the fastening member may include, for example, an adhesive, a cohesive agent, a mechanical fastening means, a button, a snap, a magnet, or any other fastening means known in the art, or other strip and slit fastening means. Alternatively, the distal end of strip 315 362 may be secured to itself by connecting two distal ends 362 of each other or by connecting the distal end 362 of the strip 315 to the proximal end 362 of the strip 315.
Limiting the loads on the fastener 416, which comprises a strip 415 as described above, by distributing the loads between the slit element and the fastening means.
52404 It is also possible to arrange an adjustable attachment means 441 comprising a pulley. For example, in the embodiment shown in Figure 25, the strip 415 is attached to the backsheet of the diaper in the anterior waist region and is secured to itself by passing through the slot elements 444a and 444b. In this embodiment, the force on the fastening element 416 at the distal end of strip 415 462 is a fraction of the force applied to the proximal end of strip 415 460 and is generally expressed by the following formula: Fd = (VvFp) / Vf = Fp / n. The sheave system comprises at least one sheave and at least two rope segments, i.e. the number n is at least 2. A pulley system comprising four rope segments, i.e. n = 4, is shown in Figure 26 to illustrate the terms of the formula. The term Fp is the force applied to the fastening means at the proximal end of the strip 460; The term Fd is the force transmitted to the distal end of the strip 415; The terms Vp and Vd refer to speeds corresponding to Fp and Fd, respectively; n is the number of rope or 415 strip portions used in the pulley system. In an embodiment of the absorbent article, such as a diaper, the sheave comprises a slit, a cut, a loop, or the like, wherein the rope may be extended therefrom. In this embodiment, the rope is, for example, a ribbon element e.g. one or more strands, strings, strands, elastic bands, threads, or the like. Alternatively, as shown in Figure 25, the strip portions 415 are separated from each other at various angles, and in this case the general principle of load distribution remains true even if the above formulas do not fully describe how the loads are distributed. Formulas applicable to various other pulley arrangements may be determined by methods known in the art, see U.S. Pat. eg. Baumeister & Marks, The Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers, Seventh Edition, McGraw Hill Book Co. (1967). The reduction in force applied to the fastening member 416 makes it possible to use fastening means that do not have the required strength independently for a particular use. Therefore, it does not leave any marks on the skin, does not irritate or injure the skin and makes the user feel more comfortable.
52404 a softer fastening means can be used. In addition, pulley-type systems can be used with more than two slit elements, in which case the forces applied to the fastening member 416 are further reduced.
According to one aspect of this embodiment, the strip 415 is elastic, elastomeric, extensible, and the like. in this case, when a force is applied to the proximal end of the strip 415, the strip may extend. Alternatively, or in addition, the retention material 465 attached to the slit member 444 may be elastic, elastomeric, extensible, and the like. and in this case may extend in response to the size change and keep the diaper above the wearer. In these examples, the increase in force on the fastening element 416 as a result of the stretching of the strip 415 or the retention material 465 is limited by a pulley-type fastening system. The fact that the elastic material used in the pulley-type system has an extra length results in relatively less stretching of the strip 415 or the retention material 465. For example, Fig. 27 shows percent elongation versus force values characteristic for two examples of materials, wherein the slope of the force required to increase the elongation of the material is initially relatively low, and then increases substantially after an elongation percentage threshold such as Th1 or Th2 is exceeded. The sheave effect generated by the sheave system can reduce the relative elongation necessary and sufficient to keep the elongation below the threshold value for the material. This results in an even lower force than that of the pulley system alone. This substantially reduces the forces applied to the fastening member 416. In addition, the pulley action makes it possible to use materials that are not suitable for a particular product or application in the absence of this effect. For example, in a non-pulley system, a particular tape 415 or retention material 465 requires 50% to 200% tensile, whereas the dimensions are the same when two strands or tape sections are used.
52404 the same material may require only 25% - 100% tensile. This makes it possible, for example, to use a material with a Th1 elongation percentage threshold value instead of Th2. In some embodiments, it may be preferred that the strip 415 and the retention material 465 bonded to the slit member have a higher elastic modulus. The modulus of the strip 415 and the retention material 465 can be measured by methods known in the art, e.g. by varying the thickness or width, or using materials with different elastic modulus for different components. This makes it possible, for example, to manufacture a fastening means 441 in which the relative position of the different slit elements can be controlled or the force distribution between different parts of the product can be changed. For example, in the case of a diaper, it may be preferable to reorient most of the force to the diaper and to minimize the forces in the upper leg regions where the skin may be irritated or may have a scar on the skin.
Figures 12 and 13 illustrate alternative absorbent product configurations according to the invention. In FIG. 12, the fastening means 41 is positioned against the same waist region of the diaper 20.
It comprises a strip member 42 and a slot member 44 disposed on the sides. This configuration provides a method for winding the diaper 20 using the strip member 42 and the slit member 44 before being disposed of after use. In such embodiments, one of the waist regions can be folded in and wound over the other waist region. The side panels 20 are then wound onto the wrapped top of the diaper 20. The strip member 42 and the slit member 44 in the same waist region are then attached to each other, making the diaper ready for disposal. An alternative embodiment in which the fastening means 41 is used to prepare the diaper for disposal is shown in Figure 13. The diaper 20 shown in FIG. 13 comprises a fastening means 41, which comprises two slit elements 44 which can be fastened together.
52404 (Other embodiments may include one or more strip elements 42 having slits 46 for alternate attachment and preparation of the product for disposal.) In the case where the slit element 44 includes a grip strip 69, the engaging slots 69 pass through the slot 46 of the grip strip opposite the grip strip 46. It can be secured. Of course, the diaper 20 according to the invention may comprise a fastening means separate from the fastening system 40 for preparing the product for disposal. For example, the diaper 20 may include a tape, hook and loop, strip and slit, or slot, or other mechanical fastening means specifically disposed for preparing the product for disposal. Alternatively, absorbent articles may be provided with primary attachment means e.g. The straps may include hooks, hook and loop fastening means or other known fastening means, and the strip and slot 41 fastening means according to the invention may be used to prepare the product for disposal.
Figures 15 and 16 show the arrangement of the fastening means 41 according to the invention for a sanitary napkin. The fastening means 41 is used for attaching the flaps of the sanitary napkin 220 to the undergarment of the user 230. The fastening flaps 220 around the wearer's undergarment 225 help keep the sanitary napkin in place during use and ensure that the liner of the sanitary napkin 220 does not contaminate the user's undergarment. While the fastening means 41 is a primary fastening means 41, the fastening means 41 according to the invention can also be used with other means for attaching the liner 220 to or around the linen, and there are adhesives, mechanical fastening means, buttons, snaps, friction, static and / or other means known to the industry. 41 the attachment means 220 may also be used to attach the sanitary napkin to other means, such as a belt, other sanitary protection products, the wearer's undergarment, or to prepare the product for disposal. Examples of sanitary napkins in which the fastening system 40 according to the invention may be used are disclosed in US Patent No. 5,406,665. 5,267,992, Shaped

In a preferred embodiment shown in Figures 15 and 16, the strip member 42 of the fastening means 41 is attached to the wings 225 of the sanitary napkin 220, and the slot member 44 is attached to the other wing. The strip member 42 is attached to the flap 72 in the region of attachment, the lip portion 48 of the strip member 42 is extended inwardly over at least a portion of the wing 225. While the slit member 44 is part of the wing 225, the slit member 225 may also be a separate member attached to the wing 225. 220 The flap 225 of the sanitary napkin 225 has a longitudinal dimension. Preferably, the length T of the strip member 42 is at least about 50% of the dimension of the flap 235. It is also preferred that the length of the attachment region 72 between the strip member 42 and the leaf 225 is at least 25% of the length T of the strip member 42. 42 In order to increase the stability of the strip member and to reduce the forces to which the fastening means 41 is fastened, it is preferred that the length of the fastening zone 72 is at least 50% of the length of the strip member T. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the length of the attachment region 72 is at least 75% of the length T of the strip member 42. In any case, the bonding region may be continuous or discontinuous, provided that the forces on the fastening means are distributed over at least 25% of the longitudinal dimension of the flap 235 in the fastened state.
Fig. 17 shows an embodiment of a baby bib 80 comprising fastening means 41 according to the invention. The strip member 42 and slot member 44 are arranged such that the baby bib 80 remains around the user's throat. In alternative embodiments, the fastening means 41 comprises a plurality of strip elements 42 and / or slit elements 44 for adjustment. 41 attachment means may also provide a means for disposal. 42 strip elements, 44 slit elements .1
52404 or both may be part of the baby bib 80 or separate elements attached thereto. Furthermore, the fastening means with ribbon and slot 41 may be a primary fastening system or a secondary fastening system.
Fig. 18 shows an arrangement of a winding 82 comprising fastening means 41 according to the invention.
