Process for obtaining authorisation, e.g. for use by car park attendant to verify details of driver or car
Abstract
A central computer (2) where authorisation data is stored transmits authorisation information to a radio transmitter (3), which in turn sends this information via a radio network to a receiver provided with a code reader (5). This information from the central computer is then compared with the information obtained by reading a chip-containing transponder (6) with the code reader.

A method for obtaining permissions for a particular purpose, wherein the applicant for access to a central computer (2) by telephone or otherwise announces (SI) his authorization code, which is registered in the computer (2). The computer (2) then transmits information (S2) on access to a radio operator (3), which in turn sends the access code (S3) to a receiver provided with code reader (5) via the radio network. To check the privilege, the code reader is read a chip identification mark (6).

Summary
A method for obtaining permissions for a particular purpose, wherein the applicant seeking access to a central computer (2) by telephone or otherwise announces (SI) his authorization code, which is registered in the computer (2). The computer (2) then transmits information (S2) about access rights to a radio operator (3), which in turn sends the authorization code to a receiver equipped with code readers (5) via the radio network (S3). To check the privilege, the code reader is read a chip identification mark (6).

The present invention relates to a method according to the preamble to claims
1.
The invention is further based on the object of the Swedish patent 9201001-6, in order to remedy the disadvantages the process according to said patent is nevertheless attached. When the person by calling or otherwise entering his access code to a computer that registers this code, for example, when parking, the parking attendant must call or otherwise contact the computer to check that this registered access to the parking lot for vehicle. This known procedure is acceptable when in the case of parking lots apply to smaller locations but becomes cumbersome and expensive when the procedure is to be applied in large cities with large parking spaces for several vehicles. Not least, time and cost will be significant for the parking attendant's active efforts to contact the computer.
The present invention is intended to eliminate this inconvenient and costly step in managing the authorization check. This is possible by the invention having obtained the feature specified in the claim.
The invention will be described in more detail in the form of an example in connection with the drawing, which schematically shows the subject of the invention applied for a fee-based parking.
denotes a parked vehicle and 2 a computer. When the driver parked the vehicle, SI calls the computer 2 and specifies his authorization code, which e.g. is a personal code, a code for the vehicle and a code for the parking lot. This is in accordance with the procedure according to the Swedish patent. For example, the computer 2, which has registered the authorization code, transmits it S2 via cable to a radio operator 3, which in turn sends the code, locally or nationally, via the radio network. This may be, for example, the Ermes network or may be another radio network intended for data transmission. The code transmitted via the radio network is received by the parking guard 4 by means of a box 5, which is provided with a radio receiver and reading unit.
The vehicle 1 is provided with a decal or mark containing an electronic identification chip 6 located at a suitable location on the vehicle. The parking attendant 4 directs the box 5 to the mark, whereby the box automatically reads the object - vehicle - authorization code. If this authorization code is correct, compared to information received via the radio network, the box gives a signal, which may be acoustic or visual to mark the authorization. This can also be shown in plain text in a window of the box.
The computer 2 can be a central computer covering large areas, for example an entire country. To prevent the parking attendant from having to receive all codes that are then sent,

521 4 ό 4, the code transmitted from the computer to the radio operator 3 can be addressed so that the code only applies to a limited area, for example only the code of the parking attendant relevant to the parking guard is transferred to the box 5.
The invention is described in connection with checking access to parking space, but of course the method according to the invention can be applied in most areas where some form of access is required. For example, to pass normally locked doors or gates, the person authorized to pass can carry the decal and check, for passage, that its code matches the code of, for example, a box mounted at the door or gate.
The method according to the invention also provides the opportunity to rectify the problem of false and stolen parking permits for disabled or other permits, which problem today is large and increasing. Some further examples of the application of the invention are hotel booking, fishing water rental, etc.
In general, it can be said that the invention makes it possible to control the permissions of objects and services with a large geographical spread.
It should also be understood that radio operator can also refer to a radio transmitter directly connected to the computer (S2), transmitting, for example, on the Ermes network.
