Bunk arrangement in a truck cab
Technical area
The present invention relates to a berth arrangement in a truck cab, the berth at a free edge having mainly vertical seat belts, which are preferably attached to the roof of the cab, and a safety net.
Background of the invention
A modern cab for a large truck or similar is normally provided with at least one berth in a cab space behind the driver's seat. The berth is designed to allow a second driver to sleep or rest, while a first driver drives the truck so that stops on a long journey can be kept to a minimum.
The berth must be equipped with safety equipment of the type mentioned above, so that both the person in the berth and the driver in front of him are as well protected as possible in the event of a collision or the like.
In previous designs, the safety net has normally been held in its protective position by means of elastic bands or similar, preferably arranged at the seat belts. When not in use, the net can be held down to the quay edge by means of, for example, tapes. Experience shows that the use of networks of this kind is somewhat cumbersome and that objects can become entangled in the network. Moreover, the look is not very good.
The invention
A berth arrangement without the above-mentioned disadvantages is achieved according to the invention in that the berth at its free edge has a longitudinal cassette for the safety net and that a net bar at the upper edge of the net has a locking device at each belt, which locking device controls the bar along the belt and, if so, it is not manually released against spring load.

When the net is not used, it is hidden in the cassette. When it is to be used, it is simply lifted by the bar along the belts and automatically locked in the desired position by means of the locking devices.
The cassette, which may be in the shape of an aluminum profile, preferably has a spring-loaded shaft for rolling up the safety net.
In many cases, it may be desirable to swing up the berth to increase the available space under it when not in use. For this purpose, conventional belt rollers for the seat belts may be provided in the cassette, and release buttons for the belt rollers may be provided on the cassette.
The drawings
The invention will be described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a truck berth arrangement according to the invention, Fig. 2 is a front view of the arrangement of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a top view of the arrangement of FIG.
1, Fig. 4 is a side view of the arrangement of Fig. 1 and Fig. 5 is a section on a larger scale through a profile of a bunk arrangement according to Fig. 1.
Detailed description of a preferred embodiment
A berth 1 shall be mounted transversely in a cab of a truck behind the driver's seat. In the berth, a second driver can sleep or rest, so that the truck can be driven with as few stops as possible. It is of great importance that the safety of the cab is satisfactory both for the driver and for the person resting in the berth 1.

.......3
The berth 1 can be pivotally attached to a rear wall of the truck cab by means of brackets 2 (Figs. 3 and 4).
At its opposite side, ie. the front edge facing the driver's seat, the berth 1 is suspended from the roof of the cabin by means of preferably two suspension belts or safety belts 3. For this purpose, these belts 3 have fasteners 4 at their upper ends.
The hut 1 is provided at this front edge with a profile 5 which is visible in all the figures but is shown in section on a larger scale in Figure 5. The profile 5 is preferably made by extrusion of aluminum.
A conventional belt roll for each belt 3 is provided in the profile 5, in which a shaft 6 is rotatably arranged in a manner described below. Each belt roll can be released from a locked position by means of a release button 7 on the front side of the profile 5.
Wrapped on the rotatable shaft 6 of the profile 5 is a safety net 8 (Fig. 1), which is fixed at its upper edge to a net bar 9. The profile 5 thus acts as a cassette for the net 8. The net is shown retracted in the profile or cassette. 5 in Figure 2.
The net bar 9 is provided with an upper locking device 10 for each belt 3. This locking device 10 is arranged on the belt 3 and thus has the dual purpose of controlling the rod 9 along the belt and automatically locking it there, unless it is manually released by pressing a handle.
The rotatable shaft 6 of the profile 5 is spring loaded, so that the net 8 is automatically wound into the profile or cassette 5 when the upper locking devices 10 are released.
With the mesh 8 wound on the shaft 6 in the profile or cassette 5 and its mesh rod 9 in a rest position against the profile 5, as shown in Fig. 2, it is easy for a person to enter the berth 1. The net 8 can then easily be lifted up to the in Fig. 1, the position shown by means of the main bar 9, as shown automatically, is shown
514 565 will be locked to the belts 3 by means of the upper locking devices 10. In this position, the net 8 will increase the safety provided by the belts 3.
If the berth 1 is to be swung around the brackets 2 to allow more space underneath, the release buttons 7 are pressed so that the belt rollers in the profile or cassette 5 can retract the desired belt length. In this case, if the net 8 is in its raised position, at its lower part it will be wound on the shaft 6 by means of the spring action.
It is of great importance that the profile or cassette 5 can withstand the forces to which it is subjected to a possible collision. It was found that difficulties arose due to the construction of the profile or cassette 5 with a longitudinal slot for the mesh 8 and with comparatively long unsupported lengths.
The profile 5 is shown in section in Fig. 5. It has a longitudinal slot 11 in its upper side for the net 8. A longitudinal brush for partially ending with the slot 11 can be attached to a profile bracket 12. As already mentioned, there is a shaft 6 in the profile 5 for the mesh 8 and for the belt rollers. The shaft 6 is stored in the profile 5 by means of plastic inserts 13 having an outer shape corresponding to the inner shape of the profile 5, each insert having a preferably central hole for the shaft 6. In order to give the profile an increased strength in the area of the slot 11, at least some of the inserts 13 may have ears 14 inserted in corresponding channels of the profile at each side of the slot 11.
Practical experiments have shown that a design with a profile described above can withstand test values of at least 80 kg and 20 G.
