The present invention relates to containers for the treatment and mixing of pre-dosed substances.

Swedish patent specification 346 908 discloses a sleeve-shaped container comprising two compartments or chambers separated by a removable partition consisting of a flat body or disc. This clamp is elastically clamped against the walls of the container and is arranged to be driven into one of the chambers by means of a sliding means slidably arranged in the opposite end wall of the other chamber. The thus-delimited partition serves as the bump and ensures good mixing during agitation by crushing.

Such containers are particularly useful for mixing substances, which mixture, in order to become intimate and homogeneous, must proceed in the presence of a mortar or impactor which ensures atomization during the shaking to which the container is subjected to normal agitators. This is especially the case for dental amalgam.

It has now been found that for some mixtures, the presence of a shock during the agitation phase is not necessary - in some cases it may even be non-coincidental, especially in the case of mixing two substances intended for the preparation of dental cement, such as that for presently usually obtained by mixing a powder based on a metal oxide and an acid.

The object of the present invention is to provide a modified container of the aforementioned kind, in which the movable partition is kept separate from the two substances during their mixing by shaking.

This object is achieved by obtaining the features of the container according to the invention in the appended claims.

Thus, according to the invention, the container comprises a removable partition arranged to be capable of occupying two positions, a first in which the partition separates the two chambers containing the substances to be mixed and a second in which the partition in cooperation with a pushing member closes the chamber in which the mixing is carried out. The container is characterized in that it has in its wall in a zone between the two chambers corresponding to the displacement of the partition between said two positions one or more passages which are in constant communication with the mixing chamber and which provide connection between the two chambers when the partition is in an intermediate position. and which are closed by the slider in the mixing position.

Preferably, the movable partition in the mixing position complements the profile of the mixing chamber, while the slider partially closes the passages between the two chambers and partly against the back of the partition.

For exemplary purposes and to facilitate the understanding of the invention, an embodiment of a container according to the invention will be described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which Figures 1, 2 and 3 show longitudinal sections through the container taken along line II of Figure 4 and Figure 4 shows a cross section through the container taken along line IV-IV of Figure 3.

As can be seen from the drawing, the container comprises a body of plastics material consisting of two parts 1 and 7 inserted together and defining two chambers 10 and 11. The chambers each contain one of the two substances to be mixed and which may be a powder 12 and a liquid. 13. In the part 1, a piston slider 3 is provided which is displaceable in the cylindrical inner space of the part. The two chambers 10 and 11 are separated prior to the mixing by means of a removable partition 2. This may be in the form of a disk or the like, as described in the aforementioned patent, or any other suitable form. For example, it may be a ball. The partition wall, as shown in the drawing, can be retained in this position simply as a result of friction or if it is driven with force due to the elasticity of the plastic material.

7110220-6 stroke 6, which serves as a support and stop for the partition wall 2 when it is in the position shown in Fig. 3 after fully pressing the slider 5.

In the inner wall of the part 1, at the lower part of the chamber 10 fits 4 are accommodated. In the example shown, these are two pieces, but they can be arbitrarily numerous and distributed in any suitable way. The passageways extend from the lower side of the partition 2, when it is in the position for separating the two chambers (Fig. 1), down to the chamber 11 in which they open freely.

When the container is loaded with the two substances, these are separated by the partition wall 2, which, when it is located above the passages 4, ensures that the chamber 10 is hermetically sealed, thereby preventing liquid 13 from leaking down to the substance 12 in the second chamber.

In order to effect mixing, the piston-shaped slider 3 is depressed as it is in an intermediate position, represented by Fig. 2, the partition 2 is at half the height of the passages 4, so that the two chambers are in contact with each other and so that the liquid 13 flows down in the chamber 11 according to the arrows and mixes with the powder 12. At the end of the pressing means of the pushing means, whereby the liquid has completely flowed down, the piston presses the partition against the stop 6. The partition thus provides continuity in the arches of the chamber 11 with the exception of the passages 4. However, these are closed by the end part 14 of the slider 5. The chamber 10 is thus emptied, while the two substances are together in the chamber 11, which is completely closed.

Thus, to complete the mixture, it remains only to subject it to ordinary agitation.
