Interactive input system, including:! frame at least partially surrounding a given area, wherein said frame has many bands and at least some adjacent bands have different optical properties; ! at least one imaging device, directed to said predetermined area and seeing said at least one frame, so the resulting images include areas corresponding to said bands; and! a structure for processing pixels of a plurality of said regions for detecting the presence of a pointer in said predetermined region. ! 2. The interactive input system of claim 1, wherein said processing structure processes said pixels to detect inhomogeneities in said regions caused by the presence of said pointer. ! 3. The interactive input system according to claim 1 or 2, in which all adjacent bands have different optical properties. ! four. The interactive input system according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said stripes are substantially horizontal. ! five. The interactive input system according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said stripes include at least one strip that reflects radiation and at least one strip that absorbs radiation. ! 6.
