A method of adding a new member to an active group call in a group communication network, implemented on a server and comprising the steps of accepting a request to add a list of members to an active group call and adding the list of members to the active group call. 6. The method of claim 5, further comprising announcing the group call to each member in the member list. 7. The method according to claim 6, further comprising the steps of: receiving a confirmation from a member in the list of members who wishes to participate in a group call, and sending useful information to that member. eight. The method according to claim 7, further comprising the step of initiating the member re-establishing their traffic channel before sending useful information. 9. The method of claim 8, further comprising the step of buffering useful information for transmission to the member after re-establishing its traffic channel. ten. The method according to claim 6, in which, at the announcement stage, a message is transmitted over the direct common channel of the wireless communication network. eleven. The method of claim 10, wherein in the transmission step, a message is transmitted over the forward paging channel (F-PCH) of the wireless communication network. 12. A computer-readable medium embodying a method of initiating a group call in a group communication network and hosted on a server, the method comprising the steps of receiving a request to add a list of members to an active group call and adding the list of members to the active group call. 15. The computer readable medium of claim 14, wherein the method further comprises announcing a group call to each member in the member list. sixteen. The computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the method further comprises receiving a confirmation from a member in the list of members who wishes to participate in the group call, and sending useful information to that member. 17. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, wherein the method further comprises the step of initiating the member re-establishing its traffic channel. 18. The machine-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the method further comprises buffering useful information for transmission to a member after re-establishing its traffic channel. nineteen. A server for adding a new member to an active group call in a group communication network, comprising: means for receiving a request to add a list of members to an active group call, and means for adding a list of members to an active group call. 24. The server of claim 23, further comprising means for announcing a group call to each member in the member list. 25. The server of claim 24, further comprising means for receiving confirmation from a member who wishes to participate in the group call, and means for sending useful information to this member. 26. The server of claim 25, further comprising means for initiating a member to re-establish his traffic channel. 27. The server according to claim 26, further comprising a means of buffering useful information for transmission to the member after re-establishing its traffic channel. 28. The server of claim 24, wherein the announcement means comprises means for transmitting a message over a direct common channel of the wireless communication network. 29. A server for adding a new member to an active group call in a group communication network, comprising a receiver, a transmitter, and a processor connected to the receiver and the transmitter, the processor being configured to receive a request to add a list of members to an active group call and add a list of members to active group call. 33. The server of claim 32, wherein the processor is further configured to announce a group call to each member in the member list. 34. The server according to claim 33, wherein the processor is further configured to receive confirmation from a member who wishes to participate in a group call and send useful information to that member. 35. The server according to claim 34, further initiating the member re-establishing its traffic channel. 36. The server of claim 35, wherein the processor is further configured to buffer useful information for transmission to a member after re-establishing its traffic channel. 37. The server of claim 36, wherein the announcement includes transmitting a message over a direct common channel of a wireless communication network. 38. The server of claim 37, wherein the transmission includes transmitting a message over the forward paging channel (F-PCH) of a wireless communication network. 39. The server of claim 37, wherein the transmission includes transmitting a message over a direct common control channel (F-CCCH) of a wireless communication network. 40. The server of claim 37, wherein the transmission includes transmitting a message in the form of a short data packet (SDB). 41. A server for adding a new member to an active group call in a group communication network, comprising a dispatcher that receives a request to add a new member to the active group call based on the list of members, and a controller that announces the group call based on the list of members. 42. The server of claim 41, wherein the manager determines location information for each member in the member list. 43. The server of claim 42, wherein the controller comprises a local controller for a member located in a local region. 44. The server of claim 42, wherein the controller comprises a remote controller for a member located outside the local region.
