Pattern description
The subject of the design is a sleeping body for a small truck, especially designed for transporting cars with a trailer-type body. The body has the form of an additional spoiler with a sleeping shelf mounted behind the driver's cabin.
In the state of the art, there are known truck bodies attached to the driver's cabin in order to provide a sleeping function in the cabin. Most often, the bodies take the form of additional space behind or behind and above the driver's cabin. Such bodies have a sleeping shelf at seat height or a sleeping shelf above the driver's cabin.
In the Chinese utility model description CN213594395U a structure of a structure above the driver's cabin is disclosed. Similarly, the Japanese application JPH08238975A discloses a sleeping structure for large trucks, located above the driver's cabin. The structure above the driver's cabin adversely affects the aerodynamic parameters of the vehicle when goods not exceeding the height of the cabin are transported. In addition, the construction above the cabin, which extends beyond its outline, also reduces the cargo space of the trailer-type construction, causing larger transported vehicles to be unable to reach the wall of the driver's cabin. This may result in underloading the front axle and overloading the rear axle of the vehicle, as the load is shifted towards the rear axle.
English application GB2590436A discloses a spoiler for a truck cab comprising a space above and behind the cab, which space can be used as a sleeping space.
The construction behind the cabin reduces the platform's cargo space.
Another Chinese utility model CN207241520U discloses a folding shelf located behind the folding seats. The shelf tilts from a vertical position to a horizontal position and is placed on the folded seats and used as a base for a sleeping mattress.
The aim of the design is to design a body that would provide the driver with space for sleeping and resting, that would not deteriorate aerodynamic parameters and would minimise the use of cargo space on the platform.
The essence of the pattern
The sleeping structure for a small truck consists of side walls, a top wall and a rear wall, as well as a shelf placed horizontally between the side walls and the rear wall. According to the model, the structure is characterized by the fact that
- the external outline of the body corresponds to the rear outline of the truck cab;
- the horizontal shelf placed between the side walls has a rounding directed towards the inside of the structure,
- the rear wall has an area rounded towards the inside of the structure, located above the shelf, and the rounding of this area corresponds to the rounding of the shelf.
Advantageously, the rear wall has projections towards the outside of the development, located above the rounded area, constituting additional space inside the development, placed on both edges of the rear wall; advantageously, the projections have the form of prisms with a triangular base and vertices adjacent to the side walls of the development.
Preferably the shorter sides of the shelf have a width of up to and including 400 mm.
Preferably, the rear wall has an area located above the rounded area (of the rear wall) in which the window is located.
The model-based body eliminates the disadvantages of structures known from the state of the art. It allows for maximum use of the space inside the cabin and maximum use of the platform's cargo space. In addition, it does not affect the aerodynamic properties of the vehicle. Another significant advantage of the model-based body is that cars transported on the trailer can be placed right behind the cabin, which ensures that the vehicle axle load is correct.
The pattern is shown in the figure, where:
Fig. 1 shows an isometric view of an example truck with a body according to the pattern,
Fig. 2 shows a side view of an example truck with a body according to the pattern,
Fig. 3 shows a cross-section of the cabin with the bodywork indicating the driver's sleeping position,
Fig. 4 shows an isometric view of the building with a view of the interior of the building,
Fig. 5 shows an isometric view of the development with a view of the external part of the development,
Fig. 6 shows a side view of the building,
Fig. 7 shows a view from the bottom of the building,
Fig. 8 shows an isometric view of the development with a view of the interior of the development, without projections,
Fig. 9 shows an isometric view of the development with a view of the external part of the development, without projections.
The structure according to the pattern may be made of a composite material, e.g. a laminate typically used for structures, e.g. a laminate of synthetic resin, e.g. epoxy or polyurethane, and glass or carbon fibres. Another suitably rigid and durable material suitable for processing may also be used. The structure comprises side walls 1 and 2, a top wall 3 attached to the upper edges of the side walls, a rear wall 4, a shelf 5 mounted between the side walls 1 and 2. (Fig. 1, 4 and 5). The external outline of the superstructure corresponds to the outline of the truck cabin from the side of its rear wall (Fig. 1). Therefore, its side walls 1 and 2 may be slightly rounded outwards and similarly its upper wall 3 may also be slightly rounded outwards. The shelf 5 is mounted at a height corresponding to the position of the folded driver's and passenger's seats. The width of the shorter sides of the shelf 5 corresponds to the width of the sides 1 and 2. On the outside, i.e. from the side of the rear wall 5, the shelf has a rounding 8 inwards, so that its width in the middle is smaller than the width of the shorter sides. The rear wall 4 extends from the shelf 5 to the upper wall 3. The rear wall 4 may have a glazed window 6, but a form without a window is also possible. The rear wall 4 does not have a uniform surface. The upper edges of the rear wall 4 are connected to the upper wall 3. The lateral edges of the rear wall 4 are connected to the sides 1 and 2 of the structure. The rear wall 4 has an area 10 rounded towards the interior of the structure, located above the shelf 5. The rounding of the area 10 corresponds to the rounding 8 of the shelf 5.
In one form of the design, the rear wall 4, on the side edges, above the shelf 5, has projections 7 of irregular shape. The projections 7 may advantageously have the shape of a prism with a triangular base. The projections 7 constitute additional space inside the housing and are intended to accommodate the feet of a person lying on their back. The projections 7 protrude outside the housing, and the tops of the projections 7 abut the side walls 1 and 2 on both sides of the shelf 5.
The concave rounding 8 in shelf 5 allows the platform to maintain almost its original loading surface, because in the case of transporting vehicles, the front bumpers of these vehicles are rounded and can be pushed as close as possible to the rear wall 4 of the body.
In one of the described forms of the design, above the rounded area 10 and above the projections 7 there is a flat area 11, adjacent at the top to the top wall 3. The point of contact of the flat area 11 with the top wall 3 may be set back from the edges of this top wall.
In another form of design, the rear wall 4 has a rounded area 10, as described above, located above the shelf 5, and an area 11' located above the area 10, wherein the area 11' is not recessed into the interior of the housing, as described above, but is flush with the outer edges of the side walls 1 and 2. The surface of the area 11 is not completely flat and has bends allowing the area 11 to connect with the rounded area 10.
In both of the embodiments described, the upper wall 3 may be slightly wider than the upper edges of the side walls 1 and 2, which forms a fairing 9 from the outside.
In both of the described embodiments, there is space under the shelf 5 for a winch mounted on the platform. The narrow side walls 1 and 2 and the narrow upper wall 3 also allow trucks with a higher cabin than passenger cars to be maximally approached to the cabin.
The assembly of the superstructure is carried out in such a way that the rear wall of the cabin is cut out in the truck and the superstructure is inserted in its place according to the pattern. The superstructure can be glued to the side walls of the cabin.
The sleeping place is created by lowering an additional shelf (not shown in the drawing) onto the folded driver and passenger seats, preferably attached in a pivoting manner to shelf 5. The shelves together with the mattress placed on them constitute a sleeping place. The shelves that can be lowered onto the folded seats are known from the state of the art. The additional shelf is located behind the seats in the cabin. An additional shelf with a mattress can fit from the inside of the rear wall 4 in the additional space created by the construction according to the pattern. Since the width of the cabin may be insufficient to accommodate an adult person crosswise, the person can rest diagonally in the cabin, so that their feet fit in the projections 7, on one or the other side of the shelf 5 (Fig. 3).
Example dimensions of the body: the height of the side walls 1 and 2 is 1500-2250 mm, which is typical for small tow trucks, the width of the side walls at their base 1 and 2 is from 200 to 400 mm. This width decreases towards the upper wall 3. Similarly, the external width of the shorter sides of the shelf 5 is also in the range of 200 to 400 mm. The small width of the side walls of the body allows for a place to sleep and at the same time does not occupy the cargo space of the tow truck.
The pattern finds application in the automotive industry.
