The invention relates to a sealing tape for sealing a joint, for example, between a profile frame, such as a window or door profile frame and a building wall, having the features according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] Such a sealing tape is known for example from EP 1131525 B1. This known sealing tape consists of a rectangular cross-section of foam material capable of flexibly returning to its original state, which, when compressed, is completely wrapped in a plastic film cover that forms a tearing tab extending in the longitudinal direction of the sealing tape while the plastic film is joined to form the intended bursting place. To fix the foam band within the pocket thus formed, it is glued to the cover, and this cover in turn can be glued to the profile frame by means of special adhesive means, e.g. double-sided adhesive tape. [0003] Such sealing tapes are glued to the profile frame to be sealed and after mounting the frame in the opening of the building wall the cover is broken so that the foam web can flexibly return to its original state, thereby sealing the profile frame in the building wall.
[0004] However, with these known sealing tapes, part of the cover, in particular the portion between the profile frame and the foam web, remains in the structure after the cover has broken, which is often undesirable.
[0005] From EP 0530653 B1, a sealing strip for gluing to a window frame is known, having a rigid channel with a U-shaped cross section and an elastically compressible foam band placed therein, which is covered with a stable strip, which on the periphery maintained in the front part of the channel walls on the basis of a separable shape connection. The top strip is connected with a flap with a flaccid strip, which goes through the edge of the top strip and enters the channel of the sealing strip. By pulling on this strip you can separate the top strip from the channel so that the compressed band of foam can expand. This construction requires considerable expenditure.
[0006] US 4204373 describes a sealing tape which consists of a flat strip for adhering to a profile frame and a strip of foam placed on this strip. The foam web is covered by a paper or plastic film that is glued to this flat bar and keeps the foam web in a compressed state. There are bursting threads at the periphery of the covering foil, with which the foil can be broken after the profile frame fitted with the sealing tape has been installed.
The invention is based on the object of proposing a sealing tape of the above-mentioned type, which has a simple structure and in which the cover can be removed from the foam strip completely or in a defined area.
[0008] This task is solved by a sealing tape having the features of claim 1.
[0009] The sealing tape according to the invention comprises a foam strip capable of flexibly recovering having a rectangular cross section which has a foil wrap, which surrounds the foam strip at least partly, the foam strip is thus held in a state of rest. compressed, the cover having a tear tab extending in the longitudinal direction of the sealing tape to open the cover, to allow the foam web to return to its original state, as well as the adhesive tape located in the bottom area of the foam web. In addition, this cover surrounds the two sides and the upper side of the foam web, has a first edge that covers the first edge portion of the bottom side of the foam web, and has a second edge that covers the second edge portion of the bottom side of the foam web opposite the first edge portion . The adhesive tape is glued to these two rims and holds them, but it can be broken by pulling, and adheres directly to the foam web at least in the middle zone of the bottom side of this web.
[0010] Thus, in the present invention, the sheath does not completely surround the foam web, but on the bottom side of this web leaves a free central band-shaped area which is glued to the profile frame before the sheathing is removed. In addition, the adhesive tape fixes the periphery of the cover on the bottom side of the foam web, blocking the expansion of the foam web in this direction. In use, after attaching the sealing tape to the profile frame, for which preferably double-sided adhesive tape, i.e. a tape provided on both sides with a layer of adhesive, is used, by pulling the tear tab, the cover from the sealing tape is torn off. As a result, the edges of the cover held by the adhesive film are separated without breaking the material. Only the said glued connection is separated, so it is possible to remove the cover without leaving any residue.
[0011] Preferred embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
[0012] The invention is explained below with reference to the embodiments shown in the drawings.
Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional view of a first embodiment of a sealing strip according to the invention for sealing a weld;
Fig. 2 shows a second embodiment of a sealing strip according to the invention for sealing a weld;
Fig. 3 shows a third embodiment of a sealing strip according to the invention for sealing a joint;
Fig. 4 shows a fourth embodiment of a sealing strip according to the invention for sealing a weld;
Fig. 5 shows a fifth embodiment of the sealing strip according to the invention for sealing a joint;
Figure 6 shows a sixth embodiment of the sealing strip according to the invention for sealing a joint; and Figure 7 - shows a seventh embodiment of the sealing strip according to the invention for sealing a joint.
[0013] In the drawings, covers, adhesive tapes or also silicone papers are shown at a distance from the foam body to clearly distinguish the individual elements forming the sealing tape. In fact, these elements adhere closely to each other or also to the compressed foam strand, because it closely adheres to the sheath under the pressure that it produces.
[0014] Fig. 1 shows a strip of foam 1 which in the example shown has a rectangular cross-section and is kept compressed by a 2-sided adhesive tape 6 marked by a cover and a strip of foam 1 can be formed of any soft foam with open or closed pores, for example polyurethane or polyethylene, and can be impregnated to delay recovery from pressure. One can also imagine a layered structure consisting of several laminated layers of different foam materials, such as a system of an impregnated foam layer with an unimpregnated foam layer.
[0015] The cover 2 has a first member 2a and a second member 2b. In the example shown, the first member 2a covers two sides and the upper side of the foam web 1 and is folded over by the first rim 4a in the edge portion of the bottom side of the foam web 1. On the opposite side, the first wing 3a of the first member 2a of the sheath 2 extending from this foam band 1 is part of the generally indicated 3 breaking tabs.
[0016] The second member 2b of the cover 2 covers the foam web 1 only with the second rim 4b at the second edge of the bottom side of the foam web 1. From here, the second wing 3b parallel to the already mentioned first wing 3a extends sideways and forms the next part of the breaking tab 3. The first and second members 2a and 2b of the cover 2 are held close to the strip 1 of foam by a weld marked with 5 in Fig. 1, which can be a welded seam, glued seam or thread seam. [0017] The above-mentioned adhesive tape 6, which serves to fix the sealing tape on the assembled building element, for example on a profile frame, is fixed in the middle zone directly on the bottom side of the foam web 1. The downwardly facing outer side of the adhesive tape 6 is preferably covered with a dashed line, removable silicone paper 10 or the like until the sealing tape is placed on the building element. Adhesive tape 6 covers on its edge zones located on the bottom side of the foam strip 1 the rims 4a, 4b of the cover 2 and holds them. The glued joint is strong enough to resist the restoring force of this band 1 in a compressed state, but on the other hand it is weak enough to give way under the action of a breaking force when, after fixing the sealing tape on a building element, the pulling tab 3 is pulled. Edges 4a, 4b may also have a zig-zag or wavy edge.
[0018] At this point, it should be emphasized that in practice the adhesive tape 6 is often in the form of an adhesive film that adheres to silicone or similar paper and is laminated on the material of the foam web. Mesh fabric or carrier foil, nonwoven fabric or similar material may still be embedded in this adhesive layer to increase tensile strength. Thus, the term "adhesive tape" as used above may also include adhesive films of the type described herein.
[0019] The sealing tape according to the invention together with the adhesive tape 6 and the silicone paper 10 is usually rolled into a roll when unfolded and then such a roll of sealing tape is cut into discs for further processing. The cover is usually applied after the sealing tape has been unwound from the roll. To keep the foam web in a compressed state, the property of the impregnated foam is used to delay the ability to return to its original state or the foam is held mechanically. Then, the compressed sealing tape together with the cover are wound, for example, on a spool or a roll of rolled sealing tape.
[0020] Fig. 2 shows a second embodiment of a sealing tape according to the invention. It differs from that of Fig. 1 in that the adhesive tape 6 is attached directly on the entire bottom side of the foam web 1, and the rims 4a, 4b of the first and second members 2a and 2b of the cover 2 are folded inwards and are located between the edges adhesive tape zones 6 and silicone paper 10. Covering the adhesive tape 6, the silicone paper 10 covers the edge parts 4a, 4b of the cover 2 with its edge parts and forms release wings because it adheres only to the edges 4a, 4b, and is not glued here. This facilitates the breaking of the silicone paper 10 from the adhesive tape 10, which simplifies the handling of the sealing tape before sticking to the building element.
In this embodiment, both edges 4a, 4b can also be applied directly to the edge part of the adhesive tape 6, as in Fig. 1. However, the folding of the edges 4a, 4b offers the advantage that these edges can be removed from the adhesive tape 6 by pulling, which requires less force.
[0022] Fig. 3 illustrates a third embodiment of the sealing tape according to the invention, which differs from that of Fig. 1 in that the cover 2 is one-piece and is therefore marked only with reference number 2 without any addition. The cover 2 is guided through both sides and the upper side of the foam web 1 and the first rim 4a re-enters the bottom of this web. On the opposite edge of the bottom side of the foam plastic band 1, the cover 2 enters the second rim 4b under this band 1 and is folded to form a tear tab 3 protruding from the band 1. The bottom side of the foam band 1 in the central zone is covered with adhesive tape 6, which extends from here to the first rim 4a and the second two-layer rim 4b and is glued thereto to keep the foam web 1 compressed.
[0023] In order to loosen the cover 2 in this embodiment of the invention, it is only necessary to pull the tear tab 3, as a result of which the rim 4b is released from the adhesive tape 6 first and then also the rim 4a is detached from the adhesive tape 6. [0024] Also in the embodiment according to Fig. 3, the adhesive tape 6 can be attached directly on the entire bottom side of the foam web 1, while the rims 4a, 4b are located between the adhesive tape 6 and the silicone paper 10. This also applies to all subsequent variants.
[0025] Fig. 4 shows a fourth embodiment of the invention which differs from the embodiment of Fig. 3 in that the cover 2 on the first rim 4a is folded by 1800 and is discharged to the upper side of the foam web 1 thus forming a double-layer cover. This discharged section forms a wing 3a and in the zone of the second edge 4b it is connected in place 5 for example by welding, gluing or through a thread seam to the wing 3b extending there, so a double-layered breaking tab 3 is formed. The advantage of this variant is that the cover 2 may be one-part, the thickness of the casing material may be reduced. In addition, it is easier to tear off the sheath material at the first rim 4a, because after breaking the sheath 2, the inner rim layer 4a facilitates the detachment of the material at the point of gluing.
[0026] Fig. 5 shows a fifth embodiment of the invention. The casing 2 has a first member 2a which completely covers the first side of the foam band 1 and approximately half of the upper side of this band 1. The first member 2a has a first rim 4a, located under the foam band 1. On the upper side of the foam web 1 of the edge portion of the second member 2a, within the adhesive strip 8 extending in the longitudinal direction of the sealing tape, is glued and preferably the folded edge portion of the second member 2b. This second member 2b completes the covering of the upper side of the foam web 1. In addition, it covers the other side of the foam band 1 and, as in the embodiment of Fig. 3 is discharged under this band 1, where its rim 4b together with the first rim 4a is covered with adhesive tape 6. The second member 2b of the cover also forms a tear tab 3 protruding sideways from the foam band 1.
[0027] In order to tear the sheath, all you have to do is pull on the tear tab 3. Due to this, the adhesive connection on the rim 4b below the foam web 1 is broken. Pulling further on the tear tab 3 causes the second member 2b of the sheath 2 to detach from the first member 2a on the adhesive strip 8 between the two members 2a and 2b of the sheath, as a result of which the second member 2b of the sheath can be completely detached from the foam web 1 and remains on it first term 2a. The latter, when using the appropriate material for the cover, can be used as a special means of protecting the side of the sealing tape, for example as a vapor barrier. You can also imagine other functions of this remaining part of the cover, such as protection of the foam band 1 against UV radiation or a colored cover that gives the building the right appearance.
[0028] An alternative to joining both members 2a and 2b of the cover 2 by means of an adhesive strip 8 may also be to join together both members 2a and 2b by applying perforation in place of the adhesive strip 8 in Fig. 5. After the rim 4b has been detached by pulling the tab breaking tear 3, the sheath 2 is torn off at said perforation, which also allows the member 2a to remain on the sealing tape.
[0029] In the last two variants, the adhesive tape 6 can only be fitted on one side under the rim 4b, i.e. on the left in the drawing, and then this rim is covered with silicone paper 10, as in the embodiment of Fig. 2, which facilitates removal covers 2 made of sealing tape.
[0030] Fig. 6 shows a sixth embodiment of the sealing tape according to the invention. This variant differs from that of Fig. 1 in that the first member 2a of the sheath 2 covers only half the side of the foam web 1 on the tear tab 3, and the second member 2b of the sheath 2 covers the second half of this side and is connected to the first member 2a on weld 5, which is approximately half the height of the strip 1 of foam. The manipulation associated with the tearing of the cover 2 from the foam web 1 is similar to the embodiment of Fig. 1.
[0031] In Fig. 6 another significant feature can be seen. namely seams made using threads 7, which run preferably in the longitudinal direction of the foam web 1 and penetrate this web from top to bottom. They maintain this band in a compressed state, thanks to which it maintains an almost rectangular shape in cross-section. In addition, the force on the cover 2 is smaller, therefore it can be thinner. The seams made of thread 7 are broken when the sheath 2 is opened, which is easily done by pulling the end of the thread. As a result, the material of the foam band 1 may return elastically to its original shape. It is also conceivable to first break the thread 7 when removing the cover 2 when the film is stitched with threads. Threads 7 can also be used in the embodiments of Figs. 1 to 5. All any single-thread or double-thread seams can be used.
[0032] In this context, it should be noted that the embodiments of Figs. 1 to 5 without such threads are shown with the idealized cross-sectional shape of the foam web 1. In fact, the upper edges of this band 1 are more pressured by the sheath 2 and the internally acting pressure than the other surfaces of the foam band 1, so the cross-section of this band 1 in a compressed state has a shape different from a rectangle. Also in the middle zone on the bottom side there may be some bulging of the strand 1 of the foam so that, as a result, its shape is similar to an oval.
[0033] It should be noted here that the sheath material 2 may be foil material, netting, paper or other material that is suitable for said purpose. In addition, laminated plastic films that consist of plastic films laminated with a backing material (e.g. nonwoven) or films reinforced with fabric can also be used. All these materials can be described as "foiled". Combinations of these materials are also possible, especially in the embodiment of Fig. 5.
[0034] On the basis of Fig. 6, a further variant of the invention is also explained which is made of a foam web 1 which has seams with threads 7 or has no seams. In this variant, it is anticipated that on the upper side of the sealing tape, preferably in the area of the upper left corner (in Fig. 6) cross-section of the foam band 1, the cover has a longitudinally extending perforation line 9, which is dimensioned so that when pulling the breaking tab 3 the cover 2 tears on this perforation line so that the right part of member 2a in Fig. 6 the cover 2 remains on the band 1 of foam, while the second member 2b of the cover 2 peels off on the bottom side of the band 1 of foam. The part of the sheath 2 remaining on this band 1 after the foam web 1 has been annealed can cover its side and act there as a vapor barrier, for example.
[0035] In this context it should be noted that in practice the strand 1 of the foam is compressed so that after expansion it can expand to a thickness of approximately five to six times greater than when compressed, of which almost half of this expansion is sufficient for ensuring good adhesion to the part of the building opposite to the sealed profile element. For example, a band of foam 20 mm compressed by 10 mm, which after breaking the sheath 2 relaxed to a height of less than 30 mm, in the embodiment of the invention with the perforation line 9 is still shielded from the side by the remaining member 2b of the sheath 2.
[0036] Also without the perforation line 9 it is possible (e.g. in the embodiment of Fig. 3) that after the rupture, only the rim 4b is broken (rim 4a is still glued) remains on the band 1 of the foam to perform the above-mentioned functions . It is also possible to remove the cover 2 completely from the foam web 1 and then stick it separately on the sealing element.
[0037] Adhesive tape (not shown) can be applied on the lower side of the tear tab 3, which can be covered with silicone paper. This makes it possible to simplify the attachment of the tear tab 3 on an element, for example on a wall, or on a window pane, when the tab 3 when transporting the window with the frame serves as a protection for the window frame from scratches.
[0038] Fig. 7 shows a seventh embodiment of the invention with a one-piece sheath 2, where the foam web 1 is held not only by the sheath 2, but also by at least one seam with thread 7, which in this case pierces the sheath 2, and the seam on the outside it is covered with a one-sided adhesive tape 11. The seam thread 7 passing through the foam material is dimensioned so that it can be easily broken. The thread entwining the loops of thread 7 on the outside of the sheath 2 is dimensioned so that it does not tear when the sheath 2 is pulled away from the sealing tape.
[0039] When the tear tab 3 is pulled in the sealing tape attached to the construction element by means of adhesive tape 6, the rim 4b is detached first from the adhesive tape 6. Further pulling breaks the threads 7 of the stitch stitch, which makes it possible to recover output band of 1 foam. The effect of even further pulling on the tear tab 3 is that the second rim 4b is peeled off, whereby the sheath 2 is completely detached from the sealing tape and the foam web 1 can easily return to its original state, i.e. it can expand. Adhesive tape 11 holds the shield members 2a and 2b on both sides of the seam together and reinforces the shield weakened at this point by the stitch 2. In another variant, the adhesive tape 11 can be omitted.
[0040] The invention has been described above by way of example of a foam band 1 with a rectangular cross-section, as this makes it easier to explain the invention and its features. The term "rectangular" also includes a "square" shape. It is obvious to the skilled person that the invention can be implemented in a suitable manner also with a foam web 1 having a cross-section different from the rectangular. Thus, the given cross-sectional shape of the foam web 1 should not be construed as limiting; in particular, the originally rectangular strip 1 of foam under the pressure of the cover 2 may after some time take the shape of an oval.
