The subject of the invention is a stair tread covering element consisting of a shaped overlay equipped with a footrest arm, ending with a covering flap and a supporting arm that forms a kind of angle with this arm, and a shaped base attached to the stair structure.
US 4,455,797 discloses a decorative cover element for a stair tread consisting of a shaped cap fastened to a shaped base, having the shape of the letter L in cross-section. This base is fastened to the step at the edge of the footrest and fastened to it with nails, while edge, it is provided with a diagonal rib cooperating with the corresponding element of the shaped overlay. Both the outer surface of the base and the inner surface of the cap are perfectly matched to each other. The shaped cap is preferably made of plastic and provided with air chambers, whereby it has good sound attenuating properties. At its end it is provided with a cover flap which, when attached to the step, tightly adheres to the footrest of the base.
The disadvantage of this solution is the necessity to adjust the dimensions of the cap to the appropriate thickness of the lining covering the step.
The aim of the invention is to provide a stair tread covering element that enables it to be applied to the stair treads covered with a floor covering of any thickness, without the need to use overlays or element bases of different dimensions.
This object is achieved according to the invention by the construction of a covering element for a stair tread, the shaped cover of which is provided with a rib and the base of which is
180 980 into a rib forming a vertically adjustable joint with the rib, the overlay covering flap being adjacent to the covering covering the footrest of the step.
The cap of the trim element is preferably provided with two contact surfaces, adjacent to the respective abutment surfaces of the profiled base.
To this end, the footrest arm of the pad is provided with a contact surface, while the base rib is provided with an abutment surface which, in the assembled state of the element, is provided with the contact surface of the rib.
On the other hand, the front arm of the cap is provided in its lower part on the inside with a contact surface, and the end face of the base forms a counter surface cooperating with it. In addition, the front arm of the cap is provided in its upper part on the inside with a contact surface, while the base is provided with an additional rib, the surface of which on the side of the front arm forms a counter surface cooperating with it.
The base of the trim part according to the invention is provided with ribs, provided on the inside with an internal thread forming a threaded seat for the adjusting screw.
Moreover, the footrest arm of the pad is provided with a hole for mounting an adjusting screw therein.
In another embodiment of the lining element according to the invention, the contact surface and the rib surface of the cover plate are provided with toothing which cooperates respectively with the toothing of the shoulder surface of the base and the rib surface of the base.
In yet another solution of the covering element according to the invention, the footrest arm of its pad is provided with at least two vertical, recessed ribs, provided on their outer surfaces with teeth cooperating with the teeth with which the base ribs are provided on their inner surface. The left-hand and right-hand teeth and right-hand teeth on the outer surfaces of the flush ribs are preferably only on the surface of the lower portion of the flush ribs, while the mating teeth are on the top and middle of the inner surface of the ribs.
In this design of the trim element, the countersunk ribs are elastically connected to the footrest arm of the pad.
In order to obtain the correct cooperation of the cooperating teeth on the surface of the recessed ribs with the teeth on the surface of the base ribs, the inclination angle of the upper surface of the teeth on the outer surface of the recessed ribs is preferably smaller than the angle of inclination of the upper surface of the teeth on the inner surface of the base ribs. the slope of the lower surface of these serrations.
In order to obtain a resilient connection with the footrest arm of the cover, it is provided at the place where the recessed ribs are seated with two external grooves, on the outer side of the recessed ribs and one groove between them. Moreover, the recessed ribs preferably form a slanting portion at the point of connection with the foot arm of this cover plate.
The base of the trim part according to the invention is provided with holes for accommodating the fixing screws.
The footrest arm of the pad, on the other hand, is provided with anti-skid grooves on its outer surface. Preferably, the entire outer surface of the cap's footrest arm, in particular its cover panel, is provided with non-slip grooves.
Moreover, the upper surface and the lower surface of the base are preferably provided with a groove to increase its adhesion to the substrate.
Also, the inner surface of the cap's front arm is provided with a step. Moreover, preferably the outer surface of the front arm of the cover plate has a curvilinear contour with a rounding at the point of transition to the footrest arm.
180 980
The front surfaces of the ribs, both the cap and the base, are preferably provided with rounded edges or truncated surfaces at the edges.
Both the cover plate and the base of the stair tread element according to the invention are preferably made of aluminum.
Due to the above-described structure of the stair tread trim element according to the invention, it is possible to install both parts of the element: the cover and the base, regardless of the thickness of the stair tread lining used, because thanks to the use of an adjustable joint of both these parts, they ensure proper adherence and fastening to the step. The construction used is very simple, enabling cheap, mass production of lining elements and their widespread use.
The invention is explained, for example, in the drawing, in which:

Fig. 4 is a trim element assembled on a diagonal riser of the step - in cross section;
Fig. 5 shows a variant of the trim of the trim part in the assembled state - in cross section;
Fig. 6 shows yet another variant of the trim of the trim part in a cross section;
Fig. 7 shows the base adapted to the structure of the cover plate according to Fig. 6 in cross section, and Fig. 8 shows the stair covering element composed of the cover plate according to Fig. 6 and the base according to Fig. 7 in the assembled state - in cross section.
The cover 1 of the trim part according to the invention shown in Fig. 1 consists of a foot arm 2 and a front arm 3 perpendicular thereto. The foot arm is provided with a rib 10 parallel to the front arm, the surface 7 of this rib 10 facing the front arm. constitutes the contact surface. Moreover, the footrest arm 2 is provided at its end with a tapered cover panel 5 which is provided with a rounded rim at the end. On its upper surface, between the rib 10 and the front arm 3, the foot arm 2 of the cap 1 is provided with an opening 15 for mounting the adjusting screw 16.
Almost the entire upper surface of the footrest arm 2, and in particular the upper surface of the covering panel 5, is provided with anti-slip grooves 18.
The outer surface of the frontal arm 3 preferably has a curvilinear contour and preferably has a rounded edge at the connection point to the footrest 2. The inner surface of the face limb 3 is provided, approximately in the middle, with a step 20 separating the upper contact surface from the lower contact surface 6, the width of the contact surface above the step 20 determining the smallest thickness of the lining 12 covering the step. Moreover, in the lower part, the front arm 3 of the cap 1 is preferably provided with an additional step 30, which allows a thin lining to be seated on the end face of the step.
The shaped base 4 of the trim part according to the invention is shown in Fig. 2. It consists of a horizontal plate, the end face 8 of which rests against the inner contact surface 6 of the face arm 3 of the cover 1 and is provided with two vertically projecting ribs 11 and 13 whose internal the surfaces are provided with an internal thread forming a threaded seat 14 cooperating with a set screw 16 embedded in the hole 15 of the cover 1. Furthermore, at least four holes 17 are provided in the base plate for mounting screws 33 for securing the base to the upper surface
180 980 degrees. The outer surface of the base plate is provided with grooves 19 to increase adhesion to the substrate.
The assembled stair tread element shown in Fig. 1 consists of a cover 1 as shown in Fig. 1 and a base 4 as shown in Fig. 2. The base 4 is attached to the upper surface of the step 31 by fixing screws 33, and rests on the base. step 12 is at least partially covered by a flap 5 of end caps 1, while the front surface of the step is covered with a riser 32. After laying on the upper surface of the base of the liner 12, the cap 1 is placed on the base so that the contact surface 7 of the rib 10 cooperates with the corresponding surface 9 of the base rib 11, and at the same time the inner contact surface 6 of the front arm 3 of the cap cooperates with the front surface 8 of the base, which is a retaining surface. Depending on the thickness of the lining 12, the cap 1 is placed on the ribs 11, 13 of the base on the step, deeper or shallower, whereby the position of the cap 1, depending on the thickness of the liner 12, and at the same time fixing it to the base 4, is provided by an adjusting screw 16 located in the hole 15 of the cap and screwed into the threaded socket 14, located between the ribs 11 and 13 of the base 4. In case the thickness of the liner 12 is greater than the height of the rib 10 of the cap 1, which may be the case when the liner 12 is a parquet, the step 20 is above the upper surface of the base 4 (Fig. 3). It is then expedient to use an oblique riser 32 shown in Fig. 4. The upper surface of the base 4 then abuts the end face of the step 20.
Of course, both the base 4 and the end cap 1 can be manufactured in different dimensions to suit the specific thickness ranges of the lining 12.
Fig. 5 shows another embodiment of the trim part according to the invention. The end piece 2a of this element is provided with a rib 10a provided with a toothed contact surface 7a, while the base rib 11a is provided, on the side of the rib 10a, with a toothed surface 9a cooperating therewith. In this solution also the inner contact surface 6a of the end arm 3a of the cap 1a is toothed and cooperates with the toothed end face 8a of the cap plate. The adjustable joint, formed by the plurality of cooperating surfaces 7a 9a and 6a, 8a, is fixed in the interference-adjusted connection by the elastic action of the cooperating elements, so that it is free from adjusting screws. This structure is especially suited to the thin linings 12 covering the steps of the stairs.
Figures 6, 7 and 8 show yet another embodiment of the trim element according to the invention, consisting of a shaped cap Ib and a shaped base 4b.
The footrest arm 2b of the pad Ib is provided with two vertical recess ribs 21 and 22 resiliently connected to the arm 2b. The ribs 21 and 22 are provided, respectively, on their outer surfaces with left-hand teeth 23 and right-hand teeth 24, while the base ribs 11b and 13b are provided, on their inner surfaces, with teeth 25 and 26, respectively, cooperating with teeth 23 and 24. after connecting the overlay to the base. In order to adapt the connection of the cap Ib to the base 4b depending on the thickness of the liner 12 placed thereon, the teeth 23 and 24 are only on the lower part of the recessed ribs 21 and 22, while the mating teeth 25 and 26 are located on both the upper one. and the middle part of the inner surface of the ribs 11b and 13b of the base 4b, which allows the attachment of the cap Ib at different heights relative to the base 4b.
In order to obtain a resilient connection of the countersunk ribs 21 and 22 with the footrest arm 2b of the cover Ib, the inner surface of this arm is provided at the point of connection with the countersunk ribs 21 and 22 with two outer grooves 27 on both sides of these ribs 21 and 22 and a central groove 28 between them. Moreover, preferably the recessed ribs 21 and 22 are provided at the top, at the point of connection with the footrest arm 2b of the cap 1b, in oblique portions 29 which form an obtuse angle with each other. The research have shown
180 980 furthermore that, to facilitate the adjustment of the joint formed by the countersunk ribs 21 and 22 of the cap 1b and the ribs 11b and 13b of the base 4b, the angle of inclination of the top surface of the teeth 23 and 24 of the recessed ribs 21 and 22 and the top surface of the teeth 25 and 26 of the ribs 11b and 13b should be smaller than the angle of inclination of the lower surface of these teeth 23 and 24 and 25 and 26, which makes the joint self-locking, preventing the cap 1b from slipping out of the joint.
In the assembled condition of the trim part shown in Figure 5, the liner 16 is inserted relatively deeply into the cavity formed between the ribs 11b and 13b of the base 4b, which is the case when the thickness of the step 12 is thin. In this state, the contact surfaces 6 and 7 of the cap over their entire width fit tightly against the outer surface of both ribs 11b and 13b of the base 4b, the height of these ribs 11b and 13b being approximately equal to the height of the recessed ribs 21 and 22 of the cap 1b and slightly larger. from the height of the rib 10 of this overlay.
In this design of the trim element, the cover plate is also devoid of adjusting screws.
In all solutions of the stair covering element according to the invention, the footrest arm 2, 2a, 2b of the caps, in particular the outer surface of the covering panel 5, are preferably provided with anti-slip grooves 18. Also the upper and lower surfaces of the base plate 4,4a and 4b are preferably provided with the grooves 19, increasing its adhesion to the substrate.
In order to facilitate the connection of the elements of the adjustable joint connecting the cap to the base, the front surfaces of the ribs 10, 11, 13, 21, 22 are preferably provided with rounded or truncated surfaces at their edges.
The stair covering element according to the invention has a cover 1 and a base 4 preferably made of aluminum or its alloys.
The invention is not limited only to the exemplary solutions shown in the drawing, but also includes other possible solutions that fulfill its idea.
