  1. 1
WE CLAIM:1. A forehead support adapted to be secured to a respiratory mask, said forehead support comprising: a joining member configured to be secured to the mask;a cushion frame adjustably mountable to the mask to move about an axis that is transverse to the joining member when the cushion frame is secured to the mask, wherein the cushion frame is generally T-shaped and the axis about which the cushion frame is arranged to move is substantially parallel to an upper portion ofthe T-shaped cushion frame;and a pair of laterally spaced forehead cushions, one of said pair of cushions being provided to each end portion of the upper portion of the T-shaped frame.
  2. 4
The support as claimed in any of claims 1 to 3, wherein the forehead support comprises means for selectively locking the cushion frame relative to the joining member against angular movement
  3. 5
The support as claimed in any of claims 1 to 4, further comprising a manipulable push button to allow angular adjustment ofthe cushion frame with respect to the joining member.
  4. 6
The support as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein one of the cushion frame or the joining member includes a tongue adapted to be received in one of a plurality of grooves, and preferably three or four grooves, provided on the other of the cushion frame or joining member so as to lock the cushion frame and joining member at one of a plurality of predetermined angular positions, preferably three or four predetermined positions.
  5. 8
The support as claimed in any one of claims 6 or 7, wherein the cushion frame is pivotable relative to the joining member about said axis and the tongue and grooves extend in a direction substantially parallel to a line extending radially from the axis.
  6. 9
The support as claimed in any one of claims 6 or 7, wherein the cushion frame is pivotable relative to the joining member about said axis and the tongue and grooves extend in a direction angled with respect to a line extending radially from the axis.
  7. 10
The support as claimed in any one of claims 6 to 9 as dependent on claim 5, wherein the tongue is provided on a flexible member that is adapted to permit the tongue to be moved out of engagement with a respective one of the grooves by manual manipulation of the push button.
  8. 12
The support as claimed in any one of claims 1-11, wherein the cushion frame includes means to connect a head strap thereto.
  9. 13
The support as claimed in any one of claims 1-12, wherein the joining member is produced from polypropylene or polycarbonate.
  10. 14
The support as claimed in any one of claims 1-12, wherein the cushion frame is produced from polypropylene or polycarbonate.
  11. 15
The support as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 14, wherein the cushion frame and the joining member are integrally formed and connected by an integral hinge that allows relative pivoting therebetween.
  12. 16
The support as claimed in any one of claims 1, 5 and 12-15, wherein the cushion frame is lockable in at least one angular position.
  13. 17
The support as claimed in any one of claims 1-14 and 16, further comprising shaft means, preferably two opposed shafts, coincident with the axis about which the cushion frame is arranged to pivot.
  14. 19
The support as claimed in any one of claims 1-18, wherein the cushion frame cannot pivot beyond a predetermined maximum angular position in at least one pivot direction. flNTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OFFICE OF N.Z 10 NOV 2005 RECEIVED
