Water dispersible and flushable interlabial absorbent structure

A flushable and water-dispersible, interlabial absorbent structure comprising a liquid-permeable inner layer preferably comprising a wet-laid fiber web with openings, and having a temporary wet-strength resin incorporated therein, the inner layer also having a body surface provided with a plurality of fibrils, resinous material, an outer layer impervious to body fluids which preferably comprises a wet-laid fiber unit, and having a temporary wet strength resin incorporated therein, wherein the body surface of the outer layer is coated with a water-resistant resin-containing material, an absorbent core located between the inner layer and the outer layer, and means for releasably attaching the interlabial absorbent structure to a wearer's underwear. The inner layer and the outer layer are connected, at least around their periphery, by the use of a water-soluble adhesive. Alternative embodiments of the present invention may also comprise several conventional materials.
