Cable with metallic tight tube comprising at least one optical conductor and an hydrogene absorbing substance

A cable with a substantially gas-tight metal tube (20) which accommodates at least one optical conductor (10 - 18) and a hydrogen-absorbing substance. The inside of the tube (20) is covered by a layer (22) of a catalyst substance, such as nickel or chromium, for catalyzing the reaction by which the hydrogen-absorbing substance absorbs hydrogen. Said layer (22) is itself covered by at least one layer (30) of hydrogen-absorbing material which constitutes a filling material for filling the tube (20), or which forms only a layer deposited on the layer (22) of catalyst material.
