To enable reliable and advantageous signal detection, the receiver comprises a device (208) for forming a model of the signal by means of a dietary function which reveals nonlinearities in the signal, and to optimize a filter function, and a device (208) for detecting the data using the optimized filter functions so that the dimension of the information vector is reduced before detection.
