Multicolor organic light emitting devices

In a multicolor, organic light-emitting device (29) is used vertically: stacked by double hetero-structure devices made from organic compounds.- The vertically stacked structure is formed on a glass base substrate (37) with a transparent coating of ITO (35) or a corresponding metal. The stacked vertical arrangement of three LED dual heterostructure devices (20, 21 and 22), each made of a suitable organic material and which is inverted by batteries (30, 31 and 32), in which a current flows from these batteries into anode terminals ( 40, 41 and 42) and finally to a cathode terminal (43). As a result, light will be emitted from each LED (20, 21 and 22). The stacking is designed so that the double heterostructure with the longest wavelength is at the top of the stack. This constitutes the device emitting red light at the top of the device and the device with the shortest wavelength emitting blue light is provided at the bottom and the device emitting green light is in the center of the stack. A top metal layer (26) is transparent, followed by a metal contact layer (26M), both of which constitute the layer (26). Each substrate layer (26) is separated from the adjacent layer (26) by organic EL layers (20E, 21E and 22E) and hole transporting layers (20T and 22H).
