Device and method for immunoassay determinations
Abstract
An assay support, generally planar and elongated in shape, comprises a gripping section (16) a sample receiving well section (12), and a connecting section (14) therebetween, each of the sections being aligned along a longitudinal axis. The sample receiving well section comprises at least two spaced-apart receiving wells (18, 20) each of which has an open end on a first face of the support, a concave inner surface extending concavely into the support, and a convex outer surface which projects convexly from an opposed face of the support. The convex outer surface of at least one of the wells is provided with at least one stabilising leg (21) and the assay support is also provided with a levelling projection (25) which cooperates with the stabilising leg(s) to maintain the support level when resting on a flat surface. The sample receiving section is also provided with a dam means (22) adapted to preclude the flow of a liquid sample from one of the wells to another.

(54) DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION DEVICE AND METHOD OF IMMUNO ANALYSIS PROVISIONS.
(57) Summary Analysis carrier having a generally planar and oblong shape and comprising a gripping section, a sample receiving well section and a blind section therebetween, each of the sections being aligned along a longitudinal axis. The sample receiving well section comprises at least two receiving wells 1 spaced apart, each of said wells having an open end on a first surface of the carrier, a concave inner surface extending concave interior 1 said carrier and a convex outer surface which convexly projects from an opposite surface of the carrier. The convex outer surface of at least one of said wells is provided with at least one stabilizing leg adapted to exclude rotation of the wells when the carrier is on a flat surface. The analysis carrier is further provided with a horizontally extending projection projecting from said opposite surface and adapted to cooperate with said at least one stabilizing leg for maintaining the horizontal position of the carrier 1 when resting on a flat surface. The sample receiving section is also provided, in the space between said wells and protruding from the carrier surface, with a locking device adapted to exclude flow of a liquid sample from one of said wells to another. Also described are a plurality of releasably connected assay carriers of the type described above. Further described is a method for using the analysis carrier for performing one The sample receiving section is also provided, in the space between said wells and protruding from the carrier surface, with a locking device adapted to exclude flow of a liquid sample from one of said wells to another.
