Well tool valve with hydraulic latch

A well tool comprises a valve member (122) movable between open and closed positions by relative movement between two housing portions (8,10). When the valve is open, fluid pressure can be used to actuate a latching mechanism (6) to latch together the two housing portions to prevent subsequent valve closure. The actuating fluid pressure can be applied through the annulus or through the pipe string. -->
